Looking for EJ D\R
Hello everyone my name is Drue and im a new member to the forums, Im trying to find a 5 speed EJ Dual Range transmission and have it ship to the U.S. If anyone point me in the right direction as to where i might be able to find a shop, private seller, or other second party that would be willing to ship to the U.S it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone,

"Christian" on this forum has one forsale I think, not sure if he'd want to send it to the US though.
Otherwise try posting up on the USMB forum which is US based - http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/index.php?

Thanks Andrew for the advise, I've already been on the USMB boards for quite some time actually. As it turns out there is only one person on the board that has this trans and he believes he is the only one in the US. Ill get in contact with Christian if he would be willing to ship to the us I would make it worth wild.AndrewT wrote:"Christian" on this forum has one forsale I think, not sure if he'd want to send it to the US though.

I would advise to do homework first and how much it'll cost you to export to US - wont be cheap.

If its EJ engine before 99 with 4 bolts then it will be straightforward swap. If you have single range box then it easy to do. gen 1 lib has 3.9 diff and gen 2lib has 3.7 diff. Yours more likely to have 3.9.U.SBoy8706 wrote:Would the box bolt up to my EJ 5sp trans out of my 94 imp L? Also would you be willing to export to the U.S?

When you say single range box do you mean a single range trans? The box im trying to purchase is going to be a D\R EJ box and i would be putting it in my 94 Impreza L model. It should be pretty straight forward like you said im just waiting on a response from the seller.AlpineRaven wrote:If you have single range box then it easy to do. gen 1 lib has 3.9 diff and gen 2lib has 3.7 diff. But you'll need dual range linkages and levers etc for/from impreza.

Oh ok sorry for the confusion, I've never been down to texas and that is one heck of a drive but if we cant work anything else out I will make the drive to get one of these transmissions. Any chance of haveing the trans freighted from texas to kentucky or a closer state? You mentioned you might have a shipment comeing to kentucky? How much would you want for the trans?seagull wrote:I know were you are, this is were Wichita falls http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wichita_Falls

well i still have the D/R box with all the linkages attached for sale with the matching diff. Its from a 91 first gen so should be 3.9 as AlpineRaven said. Will check to see if i can spot a label. I never posted a gearbox before so im not sure where to go or what to do.

Are you firm on $450 and is that AU or US currency?guyph_01 wrote:well i still have the D/R box with all the linkages attached for sale with the matching diff. My 94 impreza L series is a 4.11 final drive, the box should still bolt up with this application right? Or is there something I dont know? Appreciate all the help and advice Alpine.AlpineRaven wrote:If its EJ engine before 99 with 4 bolts then it will be straightforward swap. Yes the box will bolt up. You do need to make sure you have matching front and rear diff ratios. If yours is a 4.111 then you will need to swap your rear diff or when you get the boc put your front diff in to the new one. There is a bit of machining work that is needed to be done to the crown wheel to make it work with the dual range gearset.
If you don't manage to find one from a private seller you can get in touch with Sunspares. I don't like directing people to them any more as they aren't as helpful as they used to be. Having said that they generally have every thing you need up there.

Thanks for the advice and link bloke, after reading through alot of posts im a little torn on which way to go with my project. I was un aware that all EJ D\R have a 1:19:1 low which wouldn't help my situation much as im running an EJ 1.8L with 28" tall tires. Im thinking about just swapping one of the EAs part time awd D\R with the 1:59:1 low into my car instead. I've heard the part time ea82 D\R have a 1:59:1 low range as the full time D\Rs have a 1:19:1, can anyone confirm this? These transmissions are easier to come by in these parts and would probably end up costing relatively the same as haveing a EJ box shiped here from the AU. The only problem is i would like to retain my 4.11 final drive and i dont think its possible to put the front diff from my EJ transmission into my EAs. Anyone here have any expereience with this swap?Outback bloke wrote:Yes the box will bolt up. You do need to make sure you have matching front and rear diff ratios.
