P Plate Subaru

As you may guess I'm a P Plater, looking for a Subaru... so what would you people suggest my requirements are 4 doors and decent fuel consumption... Manual would be nice too... I've had a look at the liberty, Impreza, Outback.
The Liberty looks good but I think could be a little too big.
The Outback is quite expencive compaired to the other too.
The Impreza is looking like the goods... but not being able to get a WRX :(:(
There are no NA WRX's are there? I'd prefer the 2001-2007 range the safety appeals to me with the reinforced B pilers...
