From the states, admiring your bumpers.
I am new to the forum, from the states in central Kentucky.
I have a 1986 Subaru GL wagon and I am admiring the bumpers you guys have in Australia on your L wagons. I would like to know who makes them and how I could get one shipped back to the states. It is the steel front bumper with upper and lower brush guards.
Thanks all.
Kevin

Yes, exactly.
Yes Fang, exactly like that. I think your L wagon is the very one that turned me on to them. It looks exactly like one on the ultimatesubaru.org forum, username of Lapsed.
How much do they cost and where can I find one like yours? Do they turn up used often?

Falling all around.
I'm afraid our dollar is falling as well Bennie and the states are probably to blame for a lot of the global financial problem. The US dollar not long ago was worth more than a Canadian dollar but they have since passed us up.
I would be curious how much shipping would be. Although, I have always wanted to go to Australia...

You would probably be looking at around $500 bucks on the forums or Ebay or something. Postage would be around the same i guess by boat, not too sure on this though, another member on the forum from the states has had stuff shipped across so it might be worth contacting him? not too sure on the username though.
Oh and welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the info and correction.
Thanks all, great help. I found a TJM dealer in Knoxville Tennessee, just 3 hours south of me. I am checking to see if they can get one in.
Oh, and Fang, I meant the subaruoutback.org forum not the ultimatesubaru forum. I saw one exactly like yours on there. The ultimatesubaru.org forum is a great forum for older subarus if any of you have not checked it out. It is down at the moment but they are working on the server. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org

Wow...
That looked like way too nice a wagon to part out... Anyway, my 86 is basically the same exact body style as Fangs and the late Lapsed wagon. It has the transfer case, shift into 4wd high and low. It is a retro kind of light green with a funky color brownish interior. You can get old Subaru wagons really cheap here, less than $1000 (US) pretty common. It is an EA82 1.8. Great little car, I traded some bedroom furniture for it. Also have a 2000 Outback wagon (wife). How do they handle with the lift? Really cool wagons lifted and set up with the bull bars on this site.

Hehehe... I could see you trying to pack a bullbar in your luggage to go homekybishop wrote:I'm afraid our dollar is falling as well Bennie and the states are probably to blame for a lot of the global financial problem. Our dollar used to be up near 90 something cents to the US dollar - now we're back down near 63 cents or so...
If you or a mate are good with a welder I'm sure you could knock something of the same up... I wanted the replacement bullbar for my L, my parents got me the roo bar (wrap over) that I now have on my car, I love it now but still admire the replacement bullbar...
Cheers
Bennie
I would thinking finding a metal worker that is willing to make something would be cheaper. Just get a lot of pictures printed out and take the car in with those and I'm sure they could copy it pretty closely.

The problem is I don't think they are made here anymore. But you can find out for sure by contacting TJM here -:

No TJM do not make a bull bar for an 'L' Series anymore. The stopped production about 1996/7.....

Okay thanks, I will keep my eyes out for a used one. Found this on Ebay Australia. Wrong generation and pickup only. Maybe someone on here interested.

Hi I might have a spare one made of aluminium here that I would happily trade for a complete set of jump seats out of a subaru brat if you can find some! And I was quite shocked at the prices of some of your subarus like 2003 models in and around california!
