OK, so i'm stuck with the old wagon for a bit longer, and on my to do list are such things as clutch replacement, belts to be replaced, maybe 14" rims, paint and tinting, decent facia kit and installing a uhf radio so i can bag out two of my brothers while out exploring.
Just as fate (or laziness ) would have it- i have purchased a new gme 3220 uhf. I am sorted for just about all the main installation (antennae-cable-mountings-power and switch) but can't decide on the most practical location for the unit itself.
Thought i'd get other owners suggestions on this before i go and fabricate a shelf for the passengers' side dash, to mount both the cb and the stereo in...
any thoughts?

I have always mounted mine on the rear 'face' of the centre console. Out of the way, but does require you to look down to fiddle (= bad for driving) but usually once set, is generally only volume you play with.
Then run a lead from the output of the UHF to the old OME dash speaker, and you are set.

Cheers everyone for the info, will get off my fat a**e and buy a facia kit, the ashtray took flight last year and i used the green led for lower in the console, to cast some light over both gearsticks. Comes in handy when i've spilled hooks and sinkers all over the place.
Seems to be the spot for it though.
by the way, anyone want a alloy bullbar off a brumby?

Sorry mate, digi cam is u/s at the moment, can send you phone pics if you want. PM if that's cool. Just a note though, got it from another subi owner who tried to modify it to fit an L wagon-took 1/2 inch off inside of wrap arounds, apart from that comes with chassis brackets and studs, and the lower (support) bar which bolts through sump guard to front end. Wreckers want $250 each for these, i'd be happy with less so anyone interested please pm a mobile number and i'll send pics.
cheers all!

Nah, no remote speaker at the moment. Works fine as is.

Did you run a remote speaker?

Might have a crack at Fredsubs' idea, just for fun. might be able to use some vinyl scavenged from a door to cover it too! Thought about fabricating something to attach to roof lining, but the warden here is already nervous enough, awww it's been weeks since i've gone to the docs with broken fingers or cuts to me legs or anything!!
In my L series I mounted mine in the sunglasses holder area to the bottom right side of the steering wheel. This has the big advantage of not having the coiled Mic lead stretched across the steering wheel when you are trying to drive/steer.
I mounted it on the righthand side of the dash cluster and it is incredibly convinient to grab and replace onto the hanger.
My CB is the type with the face separate to the actual main radio unit, I mounted the main unit down behind the driver's kick panel but I'm sure you could fit a full unit in there too.

That looks pretty neat, Andrew. That hole is bugger all useful for anything else.AndrewT wrote:In my L series I mounted mine in the sunglasses holder area to the bottom right side of the steering wheel.
