Eary Libs and front wheel bearings .
Hi all , its just about time to start assembling the front suspension members to put 5 stud Liberty bits into my RX L series .
The bits I'm using are RX half shafts/Lib CV joints/early Lib hub assemblies/L calipers on RS Turbo brackets I assume with RS Lib disks . And Gee's modified front control arms .
My front hubs and uprights came from an early Liberty (1st Gen I think) and I have to buy new wheel bearing kits for them .
Can someone tell me if all the 1/2/3 gen Libs used the same front wheel bearings and if possible a kit number to chase ? I'd rather get them from a bearing supplier as Sube would want a fortune for genuine .
Thanks all , cheers A .

I am pretty sure I read off from somewhere that front bearings are the same from Gen 1 to Gen 3 Liberty.. (FWD is different to AWD)
Go to CBC - They are $53 each inc. GST, Part number SB284KIT

Hmm , that may present a problem .
Does anyone know if the bearing section that bolts to the strut (strut foot) is the same 2WD/4WD ? I think the CV's Gee sent me are early Lib 2WD because they are a bit beefier .
If I had to guess I'd say the 2WD Libs possibly needed beefier CV joints because they were carrying all the load compared to 4 on AWD cars . So maybe the bores through the 2WD bearings are larger to take a larger joint ?
I may have to measure the CV joints and bearings and go see a bearing supplier .
Cheers A .

I am still at this stage so can anyone tell me if all 1st gen Liberty front wheel bearings are the same .
All I can say so far about the CV's is that Gee sent me the beefiest ones he knew of .
I have a set of 04 WRX front brakes on the way which should bolt to the Lib uprights and the discs as per the std Lib front rotors .
I need to ring Gee about the rear ones because I think they used a different backplate/caliper mount to suit the 290 odd mm vented rear rotor and the two opposing piston MY99+ WRX caliper . I have seen caliper adapters on rexnet so that can be done though if I can use the propper WRX rear backplate that would make it virtually factory .
For the CrossBred people , is it possible to swap the modified early Lib backplates for modified WRX ones and is the internal drum mechanism the same ?
Cheers Adrian .
