THE NEW GTR PROTO

Post by BrennyV » Wed Oct 19, 2005 4:51 pm

Only a few hours ago they just launched the new GTR Proto.
I just thought id chuck this up here for everyone to have a squiz at and also just hear what everyone has to say.

Visit http://www.gtrproto.com/ for all the pix and info.

I must say that so far this car has a unique but still slight familiar look to it also keeping the very wide body style that GTR is famous for. It will be interesting to see what Engine specs they end up with and also how this car performs. but i must say i don't mind the new look GTR.

its alright but i think that they should have kept a simalar shape to the r34, the v35 and the gtr proto's shape is to simalar to a maxima or z.

I think it's great, I am very happy they kept the 4 circle lights at the rear. better than the 350z.

Eh. Its ok. I like the R34 GT-R more though.
But I reckon this thing has potential. Just like any car.

They have to if they want to call it a Skyline. The four lights are synonymous with the name. Well except for the R31 wagons that is...

I think it looks like a bad rip on the Z. That's 180 degrees from the styling on the R34 GTR, which looks like it ate steroids for breakfast. I agree with spencer, this car will blend into the background with the Maxima and Z.

It might look good now to some tastes, but in 20 years noone will look back on it lovingly.

I agree, there was just some rumours awhile ago that they were going to drop the 4 lights. There were also a few concept drawings without them. It was like they were going to make it another model in a range of Z's, I am just glad the kept the lights.

yeah, without the lights they no longer are a skyline. it really is there triad mark ;) I must still say that the R33 and R34 really were the peak models in my eyes.

LTurbo - ok, I didn't know that! That would turn me off Datto's for life!

4Muff - I agree with you 100% The R33 and R34's will always be the pinnacle of Skylines, regardless of what they release from now on.

I feel they were the best as far as weight and running gear was concerned but as far as style goes the 33 and 34 have that slight edge over the 32. but as i said 32 runs the best setup for a track / drag car.

Styling's definitely a winner in the 33 and 34. Torque was improved in these models too, but realistically who drives a stock GTR anymore? ie, would that matter?

I have a mate with a 33 so I hold a lot of respect for them. Before that he had a 32 gts with an RB20DET, so that's prolly why I don't like the 32's as much :D

My Leone still beats his R33 GTR, just! Just wait till its back on the road, that fella up the street from me with the 34 had better look out

I like the look of the Z model so the new look of the R is great, I like how its different to the old models.

Its not bad considering it was based on the 350Z, but without the engine/drivetrain/preformance numbers to back up the pics its a bit hard to compare with the old zilla's.
R32 is IMHO by far the best - easily workable and while the styling was not as steriod induced I kinda like that, its the "sleeper" in the godzilla range. If you took off the GTR badges a lot of people couldnt pick it from any other late 80's early 90's skyline, cant say that about the 33 or 34.

I don't like Skylines, never liked the look or sound of them. But this ones got a much nicer look. Can't wait to see the ricers stuff up the looks on this one!
I think they have done a OK job with it. At least I like the look now.
