Re: Brumby Paint codes

Wouldn't happen to know which red they used on my 89 brumby would you? I could narrow it down to 2, but with 30 years of weather damage.... It could be either.

Re: What’s everyone up to these days?

Wife and I work way to hard. The 2014 Impreza kicks along nicely, we took it up to Flinders Ranges/Wilpena Pound the other week. I figured we'd do some gravel roads. Not listening to what she was banging on about, I just drove where she pointed... Well, we ended up doing Parachilna gorge. LOL. I wou...

Re: EJ head bolts - how many times can they be used?

Basically the 'general' rule is any bolt that is angle tightened (eg. Xft-lb, then 60 degrees, then 60 degrees) are "torque to yield" and should be replaced each time. Torque to yield is a whole nother topic, and you can lose hours if you start googling and reading about it. Now, there are some exce...

Re: 89 Targa Brumby

Had a bit more time to mess around: Well, the air con still works well, so I'm good there with no leaks: Winner. I've got genuine front bush's coming. Really prefer rubber than plastic. Got a new windscreen rubber here, and the carpet and underlay have also arrived. Got a new engine stay/support bus...

Re: EA81 Twin Carb Manifold Air Cleaner Question

Bennie, thanks: I spent too many hours reading about ea81's the other night... I finally found out about the EA81S, I've never seen one in person. I reckon that's the air cleaner box you're talking about. Seems to be lots of confusion about EA81 in general which didn't help. For example, I have a cu...

EA81 Twin Carb Manifold Air Cleaner Question

Hi all,
come across a manifold with the twin carb set up, but there's no air filters. I can not find any pictures of such a set up. Reading around I think people hide them under a normal air cleaner arrangement.

Can some one please post or link me to some pics of how it looks installed?

Many thanks.

I didn't use a tyre shine, it was a wheel cleaner like this https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=imgres&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwi3lLrHi6zgAhUFTLwKHfQDDrQQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bigw.com.au%2Fproduct%2F5star-wheel-cleaner%2Fp%2F4909071%2F&psig=AOvVaw287Y3lZIaklyXP6M...

Re: Red Targa Brumby

I got a mate to paint my 13inch white rims... Money back deal ie. he didn't charge me. We just pressure washed them. Hit them with some 'wheel cleaner', the spray can's from the reject shop, works waaaaayyy better than it has any right to. Gave them a wipe with a rag, and a rub with a brush. Then hi...

Re: Trip Report (49 pics) - Pack a Lunch - Sept/Oct Border Tk SA run

Just watched Mitres video.... Damn, I shoulda been there. I reckon the tree that got nailed, was the path where I'd have to shoot around to the west, as I could never make it along the fence. Can't believe the rocking and bucking in places: I'm guessing that's from these 4wd boys with massive, massi...

Re: Trip Report (49 pics) - Pack a Lunch - Sept/Oct Border Tk SA run

Looks like a fun trip. I had my old white brumby up red bluff several times: I could never gut up the big sand hill along the fence, the ruts were too deep and I'd always belly out. So I'd have to wind the track up to the west to get over that. That's 15-20 years ago now, and rarely anyone camped th...

Bantum, if it's not possible to migrate this forum over to the new system, is it possible to clone it then host it on a sub domain or a dot domain? eg

archive.ausubaru.com

But lock it down so it can't be modified or hacked.

There's too much useful info to risk losing.

Water pumps are always fun. Take your time and get the right one. As for belts, I've personally never seen a failure of the belt or bearing: Where they have been changed on time! So my mate at a parts shop has seen both of those brands you mention fail..... I've used both with no trouble. The dayco'...

Until you get it sorted: Dump a container on there, at least get some storage. The trick is to play their stupid games: If it's not permanent, then it's fair play right? Had a mate go through something similar: Bought a house with a granny flat. The house was a dump, so they knock the house down. Pu...

Damn.... What a nightmare. I pull my hair out daily. 20 years ago, I never questioned aftermarket parts. Now a days, I'm uber fussy on brands, and through trusted contacts in the auto game, I avoid most parts related problems... On some vehicles the OEM parts are junk, and aftermarket are way better...

Does the car have an air flow meter? I've done a few on Suby's. Given the cars 15 years old, even just cleaning it may work: But make sure you only use air flow meter cleaner. As for the O2 sensor fault, does it have 2 sensors? One after the Catalytic converter? Some times the cat's get oiled up, so...
