I've just sent that guy a message asking what gearbox is included. I've got a Vortex single range full-time 4wd box in my car currently, but I'd prefer the dual range full time box (mainly cos I've got RX turbo black interior trim & the centre console looks wrong :p). If it's the right box, I do you...

I know of a spider manifold, but be warned, everything's different, and I think it doesn't have the water jacket part (it's a separate piece that's sandwiched between the heads & inlet). The standard computer was usually the 1st thing junked on the rally cars. I've seen 20% improvement from just cha...

If you're not going too extreme, the Forester will be fine. It's only issue (like most late models) is the front & rear clearance angles. You can get steel replacement bumpers for the Forrie that solve this problem however. The Forrie is better than the Liberty because of its shorter wheelbase, whic...

If you're in Sydney, I might be able to help. I once had some extra cables made up that had that fitted up to the Liberty rear handbrake, but also to the original handbrake lever. The aim being that the cables went forward from the lever, then did a 180 degree loop over the top of the gearbox, and t...

I don't think that's quite correct about being 100% to the front wheel normally. I had a 93 Legacy GT auto (I know being an import & turbo it could be different from the normally ones) in the early 2000's, and I remember Honda doing a big ad campaign about their CRV being the first to offer that kin...

It would prob cost a machine shop maybe less than $200 to redrill the hubs. You don't need to fill in the old stud holes, so the pattern can be changed back (but who'd want to).
Off the shelf 4x114.3 rims would be $200ea, $400ea for good ones.
You do the maths ;)

not without a lot of work. The 4EAT was available on later model turbo efi L series, but not in Aus. Some vortexes may have them, they are again EFI. I'm not sure about the Vortex, but the L series had a separate computer to run its gearbox. From the Liberty onwards, the auto was run by the engine's...

17s on a Vortex go not too bad (especially as the guards are wider), but you prob won't be able to keep the same overall diameter. Seeing as Vortex's had disc brakes all round, you're better off getting the hubs re-drilled for 4x114.3, then you've got a much larger choice of wheel to choose. Just wa...

can cheat by using words instead of the symbols.
eg bob (at) blah (dot) com
put extra spaces, etc. They can't pick up stuff like that.

BTW, happen to be selling turbo clutch pedal setup from your RX?

Cleared it out now, but send me a reminder next week & I'll see what I've got at home.
My wife will be happy if I got rid of some stuff :P

I think if I was going to that extreme to remake the arms, I would've remade the radius rods mounting plates to accept the a pivot mount like the later model cars, then made an arm with 2 mounts like the later model cars. They are much stronger and more stable under load. Jealous that you've got acc...

Looking at those rear mounts, I reckon I'd be much cheaper to cut off the "hat" hanging down, weld a block of steel to it, drill & tap that instead.

where does your number plate mount? In the bumper or between the lights? We only ever got between the lights (I think partly because Subaru knew that a lot of the cars would have a towbar mounted, which would then obscure the bumper mount type, and hence be illegal). But I do like the bumper mount n...

have you cleaned the drain holes near the corners of the windscreen? It was more of a problem on either the S1 or S2, I can't remember which. Are you sure that it's not a split heater hose? They have a bad habit of splitting on the back of the heater box. Try looping the engine bay one back on itsel...

I got a dodgied up kit on another car I bought. To get rid of the handbrake cable issue, it's advisable to twist the backing plate around slightly. This means that you'll need to redrill the 2 holes you've done. Firstly, I'd weld up all the holes currently drilled. It's only mild steel so I don't se...

Thanks for the pic.
The single range, part time 4wd box levers from that undrilled boss that's above the "yellow" part of the lever. The cable ends up in the same place, but it levers from the top, not the bottom.
