you are the wheelstand king after your last effort. lol

yes, looks like its well sorted. couple of months and might get a simple dyno to see if I can get the jets just right. But for the moment just happy this carbie thing is done now.

Have ditched the 38/38 synchronic weber carb. At the end of the day, it got 23 mpg (oz gallons) with a light foot. Purchased a very good used 32/36 weber. Put it on today. It came off a ea82 so was jetted almost right. But got a list of jets others use for their ea81 and one main jet on the primary ...

mmm, makes sense eh.

As once reported mine ran on the dyno best at 13 degrees (vacuum disconnected) and 29 max when revved high (vac connected). With the 15/55 cam. I can understand not checking it regularly but at least once a year Jonno...sheeeesh!!! ;)

The 38/38 weber carb is a good carbie. Working with both throats opening always at the same time might well give benefits. However I'm now convinced that the extra compression from 8.7:1 to 9.5:1 a little extra size of the SPFI manifold (6mm more diameter from stock ea81) was never going to be enoug...

Thanks Jules, I found the first web site after I posted this thread. The second one was good too and has a link I'm reading now. I'm convinced the 32/36 might well perform better than the 38/38. But we'll see. also I'm running the SPFI manifold. 6mm larger in diamter. wondering, that might have some...

What jets do you have in your 32/36 weber

Have a used 32/36 weber on the way to my place to replace my 38/38

Although the carb is jetted for a ea82 (mine is ea81) before I put it on my engine I want to check the jets. Can you tell me here what jets you have in your carbie.

Thanks

Tony

My pleasure El Freddo Must admit looking under the bonnet of the red targe I said to myself "where's the engine"? It's been a while since I first got tweety's ea81 and it had a lot of things on it then like carbon cannister, vac tubes and well, thing a trike in Australia doesnt legally need to have ...

Gazza, went onto the Tridon site and there is no mention of the specifications of that coil. This is what I see as a major issue in the auto industry. Lack of specs. For manufacturers to claim "more spark, more voltage more HP etc" where is the data? There seems a common view that no matter the outp...

Hi Vortex, I have a ea81. I have a MSD master blaster 2 coil that I've considered putting back on my engine for a while now. But, the possibility of module damage worries me. Also why arent manufacturers installing such coils when they make the car? I have a thread on USMB on this posted recently if...

For Jonno, Re: your suggestion (valid) that the SPFI manifold might cause less velocity of the intake gases. To quote General Disorder "It can be done - I've put plenty of EA82 SPFI manifolds on EA81's and I know of a couple people that have put the EA82 carb manifold's on as well. Not saying there ...

guys, I did some checking of the timing today. Remember I dont have a flywheel with timing marks on it. I wont change it because it was adjusted for maximum hp on the dyno. I have a permanent steel pointer marking the point at idle. The crank pulley is 367mm circumference meaning one degree is a lit...

Thanks Jonno, did think of that for a minute or two. Lets face it, with a 32/36 carb there is a lot of driving time when the first throat only on a 32/36 would be in use. I had a long time thinking about this when on my trip this week from Strathbogie to Donald (around 340 kms one way) country drivi...

weber 38/38 prefer 32/36

As it reads. My fully rebuilt ea81 engine with torquey cam. I expected a drop of 2-3 mpg and got a drop of around 7-8mpg. This is too much to bare for a retired couple wanting some fun on a trike. If anyone owns a weber 32/36 in good nick wanting to swap for my new new 38 give me a yell on 043836093...

Few days ago I had major loss of power. I was going for a joy ride around town and limped home. The engine would only rev to 2000 rpm but idled fine. Eventually I tried revving it more and 2000 rpm was max still and I detected smoke coming from the torque converter. Shut it down. Resolced to accept ...

Hi Scott. I've placed graph descriptions above the first and last graphs. So the dotted lines are torque...read from the RHS graph markings. HP is read from the LHS graph markings and the line relevant has no dots. It is impressive and I'm happy and I wont be going the EJ route. Just saying that as ...

I'm thinking the problem is isolated in the filter SB The SPFI system was taken off and the engine taken out. Engine reco took 5 months then couple weeks install. Then couple weeks manifold and carbie mods and adapter. Quite a while the filter sitting there. If the oxide formed in the filter alone t...

mmmm, but if the corrosion from water in the tank caused the issue in the filter then the tank by now might be water free.

The white substance is really hard and to me resembles corrosion. Its like caked on fine salt.
