Hmmmm. Been very distracted this week, but no faults to speak of except for a sunroof issue that I might raise in another thread next week. I pulled a bunch of sensor units off a wrecked EJ25 locally and will keep them handy. New front and rear sway bar end links have changed the handling and drive ...

I dig the top mounted double din unit. Is that factory?
If not does anyone know of a source?

Hmm a week of perfect running. This afternoon did it again- crank no start...
OBD found no faults.
Temperature sensor was reading appropriately for conditions.

Crank or cam angle sensor fault is looking more likely.

Gannon, great tip thanks.

Nubaru I'm not sure I'm with you on the spark or fuel thing. The fact that this occurred with no warning and then resolved without problem makes me very suspect of some electronic part that can fall intermittently in an all or nothing kind of way, such as a sensor.

EJ25 forester didn't start this morning

Hi folks. I have added a forester to the garage recently. 2003 MY04 XS. 230,000km and most big jobs done by Subaru including a recent clutch and the 200,000km service. Lots of kilometres but the price was right and the idle is smooth as butter, you can't tell it is even running! This morning I went ...

WTB Forester SG9 bits

Hi folks,

I've just bought a MY04 forester and after some parts.
If you are wrecking or have surplus stuff I'd love to hear from you.

At this stage I need a drivers window motor or even a whole door, NOS front suspension bits, and a 5MT gearbox in any condition.

Thanks,

Thanks everyone.
I'l have a look at a few and report back.
I'm really not thrilled about the safety aspects of them but will reassess what kind of role a Brumby would play.

Thanks,

Hmm, great guys. Lots of stuff to think about. I will be living in a country town and lots of rural commuting will be had. I cannot get past the safety factor as my significant other will definitely be a regular driver and her safety is something I can't look past here. A second car is certainly in ...

Love it!

It'll be a cheap second car and means I don't need to buy and store a trailer.

It has a bullbar already and thanks for the heads up on the coupe doors.

Anyone else care to give their two cents?

Considering a Brumby and after some advice

Hi folks. I've been a member for a while now, and my desire to own a Brumby has waxed and waned as I see them on here. My family has had a few Subarus over the years, and I've owned an L series turbo wagon and now pushing an H6 outback. None have ever let us down. The outback is by far the most comf...

Why not advertise it as a whole car here? Why jump to parting out a car in "really good condition" without first seeing if someone needs a reliable wagon in good condition? If you were in love with the dash then change it and sell it. Too many good cars get crushed in this country and come back as K...

Nice work! Now you know what an average one is like.
Whisps of oil smoke most likely oil dripping down onto exhaust from leaking rocker covers. Body roll probably clapped out sway bar bushes and tired shocks/suspension.
Keep hunting!

Hey mate. My first bit of advice would be not to buy the first car you drive. A Forester GT is going to give an awesome drive compared to your Mazda that 'needs TLC'. Unless you drive a few you are going to make a decision based on this comparison and this isn't being objective. At 208,000km I think...

I have no recollection of posting on this page at all. It makes no sense, unless the page posting got mixed up.
Sorry if I caused offence with nonsensical post above.
