I was a bit frustrated at first that it wasn't what I had asked for, but it was done by a major place here in Brisbane, who have had plenty of experience with Subaru's, so I just went with it (and it works fine) I did also ask about what would happen when it came time to change a clutch and/or press...

Hmmm, this gets interesting! I dropped off to the clutch manufacturers my EA81 flywheel and my EA82 pressure plate (plus also in the box was my EA81 old pressure plate, which was just for demo purposes) I showed them where I wanted the 2mm machined off (the outer step with the dowels as you have had...

It pays to ring around. The 1st Kmart I called (closest to me) wouldn't do that price but the next nearest Kmart did (Sunnybank hills shopping centre)
I can call him to see if he will do the same deal if you like

None of the Subaru 4wd gearbox's, whether Brumby 'L' or Foz, have a separate transfer case like bigger 4wd's do. Its all done within the gearbox. My Brumby's compliance plate is actually stamped "4WD", has your Foz got anything like that on its comp'l plate? (assuming it was a factory dual range?) B...

Ditto on the iacv. Different varieties of them on different EJ motors so do a bit of googling and YouTubing to find a 'how to remove' on yours. Then use that upper end cleaner to clean it out. Dodgy O2 sensor usually makes engine just run rich, which doesn't seem to be your symptoms. Not familiar wi...

Not a direct fit. You would first need a non feedback carb and its manifold, then some grinding and moving of coolant lines is required.

Aren't there are some ea81's that have hydraulic lifters?
Being a 'GEM' engine and knowing 1st hand their dodgyness from past experience, who knows what they did or put inside.

Up til just before the last post I was thinking it was definitely not going to be the inserts giving the hard ride, and that option 2 would be the correct choice, that was when I read the last post and changed my opinion to option 4 (removal of all foreign items from suspension travel) :-) How does ...
