Probably because it hasn't been used for about 12-13 years! Cheers Bennie I have been pretty slack with the A/C. What with family stuff, moved houses, getting our old house ready for sale, car isn't a daily driver etc the years have flown. On the plus side, yes, it hasn't had any use for 15 years.

MY wagons are my 2nd favourite Subaru & there's not many left, so anything you can do to keep it & not let it get wrecked or crushed, is a good thing. Check up on current laws, I know in Vic things have changed a lot recently Can't even begin to think about wrecking/crushing the car so no danger of...

Ended up getting time to pull the wires off the drier, used a lead to join them together and started the car.
Both the fans started up when the cabin fan was switched on and the A/C button pushed so all is well.
Thanks guys for all the help.

Silverbullet. Your the man !!!! From your info re the radiator thermo switch turning the main radiator fan on I thought that the thermo switch should be a normally open type and when it gets to temp the contacts close sending the circuit to earth so turning the fan on. Note - I replaced the radiator...

MY EA81 radiator cooling fans

Anyone have any knowledge on the wiring and purpose of the radiator cooling fans on an EA81 fitted with A/C and twin electric fans. The twin electric radiator cooling fans in my 82 model EA81 Touring wagon and not switching on when the coolant temp gets high preferring to blow coolant everywhere ins...

Awesome!! 8-) You could always do a club rego... Yes, thought about that but I feel that if someone is going to be a member of a club they need to be involved and take part. I don't see me being able to do this at this point in time (or there lack of - time) so was also wondering about Historic veh...

The 82 MY Touring wagon passed its 35th year of rego no problems. Even with the original carb just fitted with a new carby kit and totally un-tuned. Asked if there was anything I should be aware of coming up that may need attention and nothing, all good. 269,407 original ks on the EA81's clock. Only...

I realise I am replying to this post well after ANZAC day but I too wanted to say I enjoyed the story and subsequent comments. I lost a direct family member during WW1 in France and thanks to the internet I have been able to trace their headstone with photos and other details in the Australian War M...

I agree, have the needle and seat checked. Maybe a particle of crud or left over something from the rebuild is jamming things.

I thought they would be the same.

This is the one I am looking at.

Still not sure what the differences are with the part numbers.

Went for extreme measures. Felt the problem roller had "grown" in height rather than swollen on it ID. Sprayed White lithium lube on the roller, pushed a 1" AF socket over the pulley and spun the pulley with a 1/2" driver (cordless impact gun). The heat generated from the friction was enough to warm...

Help with window rollers

Pulled the drivers window out of the MY wagon on the weekend (powdered windows) and there are 3 x rollers in the winding mechanism and 2 x rollers on the window guide. Non of them were actually rolling or had any hope of rolling. I am guessing that since they are round they are supposed to actually ...

Went to take the MY for a drive and noticed tell tale CV grease on the front driver side firewall. Didn't have a new boxed set of boots so pulled new boots of a front drive shaft I had pulled part and refitted new boots to not too long ago. This shaft clicked straight away so it was pulled back out ...

dfoyl What is this carby off ? I don't see it as looking like mine (1982 EA81) Following is the course of action I have taken with my solenoid which has bought me some time. Firstly, I cleaned up the end of my solenoid to expose as much of the wire as possible. http://ausubaru.com.au/picture.php?alb...

I have done this before too but if for some reason the car wants to run on (lots of reasons for this) you have to basically stall it to make it stop.
I will get to the bottom of this just dont know how yet.
