As Subyroo rightly says, the cores block up. This isn't just a suby issue. How old is the rad? Flushing it doesn't really do or show what's needed. You need one of the tanks taken off to see flow through the tubes. Given the price of new radiators, it's more economic to replace than repair though. D...

Before you can just say 'air lock' you need to ask why is there air in there? Have you just changed coolant/radiator etc and not bleed the air out properly? Or do you have a leak and it was low on coolant? Or do you have a problem that caused overheating and that pushed all the coolant out? I wouldn...

If that fault code is as you say "circuit malfunction" it should be a purely electrical fault. So, has the car had a prang recently, or any other work that would see the wiring messed with? It's possibly a dodgy earth somewhere. Or even as silly as recently jump started. Or a leaky windscreen lettin...

The general rule is: If the bolts are tensioned, then turned X degrees, they are torque to yeild and should be replaced. A few manufacturers give specs to measure the bolt for stretch, but this isn't fail proof either. Twice I've had new bolts fail during torquing, and once many years ago reusing a ...

Nice work El Freddo, I'm a fan of that series of liberty. The damn b4's are still expensive though. As for the HG's leaking oil, I had a forester through last week, owner thought rocker cover, cleaned it off, let it idle for 10 minutes, nope clearly head gasket. Not the first suby I've seen do it. B...

I've seen far, far worse put back together. If it's just a stocky rig, it will be fine, but if you're gonna boost it hard, then the blow by may become an issue. I'm not familiar enough with the blocks, but they should be able to sleeve it if you want to it to be perfect: The sleeves are that hard, t...

Crikey, you have my old brumby.... ARGGHH I thought it had gone to heaven, the rear reversing light is a tell tale for me.... I take it there is an antenna mount on the roof of the beast... with a orange and blue toggle switch (they glow) on the left side of the lower dash (orange for fog and blue ...

Thanks guys. I do have air cond fitted so I'm missing a fan. Will the wreckers see if I can find one. Got the new rad in, the rest of the system seems water tight. Put a seal kit through the oil pump while I had the rad out. The passenger door had a hissy fit an decided not to unlock, got the trim u...

That drop box makes it difficult to post images! Expect the A pillar corners at the bottom of the windscreen to have some holes in there once you clear off the rust scale. That is not going to be pretty sorry to say. The rust on the roof is "interesting"... And that panel can be cut out and replace...

thanks dfoyl. I was thinking 86/87 for cats, right around when Unleaded become necessary. Looks like I scored some factory 13 inch sunraisers! Yay. Just gotta hope the guy comes good on the deal. Only thing left I want (in terms of main parts) is an ag-quip style rear bar/step/bumper. Does anyone ha...

Toonga and El Freddo Thanks for the interest and replies. The main dent is high near the back of the tray, with the inner panel removed we'll be able to sort that out easy. The straps on the back fire wall is for the targa, neat! Couldn't remember my old one having them. I looked in the glove box to...

I'll post pics over the next few days/weeks. I sold my brumby in about 2000/01. Dumb thing to do, it had 9,000km when I got it (yes, 9,000km, it was my grandpa's ute and he didn't have a license so it was all farm miles) and I sold it with about 50,000km on it. The wife bought a brand new MY2015 imp...
