Also common is the hazard switch playing up. Give it a wiggle and click it on and off a few times.

JWS have done nothing to the harness. I have had a bit to do with this car lately and the wiring is still very far from satisfactory. Yeah sounds like it's missing a cable. Since it was given to you sounds like u can't return it. For what it's worth it's more than likely faulty anyways. You might want to add the fact it has Gas conversion stuff hanging off it... I have had a similar problem at least twice before... once was a bad MAF sensor and once was a bad O2 sensor.
