Seems you took our usual summer heat Subyroo! We’ve got max temps in the mid 20s for the next few days before getting back into the early 30s.
Now to listen to the hottest 100 for 2023 today

Re: Happy Australia Day!
Reusing an old Oz day thread rather than starting another one. HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY 2024!! Got some lamb on the bbq at the time of writing this and a bundy rum on the go. Sad to see more protests and outright vandalism - ppl need to realise we can’t do anything about history other than learn from it....

Re: 1992 project Brumby from Finland
Happy New Year Finnishbrumby! To answer your question about the KYB struts: the factory original oil filled struts are discontinued. The aftermarket KYBs are gas filled. They could be order only if not available on the shelf. Getting a set of struts and springs for the front end sounds like a good s...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
That heater two replacement looks intense! Glad to hear the effort was worth it in the end and good advice to avoid this unit too. You’re on your own with the programming/tuning of this beast until you get it to the dyno. Hopefully the dudes there are happy to share info and knowledge with you. Chee...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
I’m glad you got it to come back to life so easily. Hopefully it’s happy days from here on in!
That solid state relay setup, just the relay died and not the pump? Got to be happy with that over a dead intank (expensive) fuel pump.
I’m looking forward to the next update!
Cheers

Re: Oil Subaru Outback
Not had similar to you but what you experienced with oil consumption and extreme heat makes sense to me. Tolerances in the bore, pistons and rings would be on the upper end of the scale in this situation which would lead to higher/excessive oil consumption. The oil may have passed the rings or blow ...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Well that’ll be a bonus for those cold starts once you get it sorted! I just can’t fathom how you’re having so many issues with original sensors/parts etc. I’ve had engines and parts sitting around for long periods of time and when put into use they haven’t had an issue. What you’re experiencing goe...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Sam, I’d double check to ensure the Halteck controls the IACV or if you need to adjust your throttle butterfly to set idle. I say this as many aftermarket ECUs we’re not capable of controlling factory IACVs, I’m not up with the latest in aftermarket ECU stuff because it’s not something I’m in to so ...

Re: 2024 New Engine Oil Change
G’day Dale, I’ve not had the chance or inclination to swing a new car into the stables but what you’re suggesting is what’s typically done after rebuilding an engine. I think the best thing to do is drop into a Subaru dealership and ask them about the warranty side of things if you DIY early oil cha...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
That’s awesome about the support from Halteck! I bet that’s reassuring knowing that you’ve got that line of communication/inquiry when needed. Interesting about the FPR, I’ll have to look into this one at some point, actually that’ll be easy since I’ve got the turbo project setup with the fuel pick ...

Well there’s the “beauty” of starting a post and finishing it after dealing with kids and family lyfe! I started that last post before 7pm and it took that long to get it sorted that you made a follow up post that I didn’t see until after I hit the post button Sam! Did you try starting it with the o...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
How does the Haltek know when to fire the other two cylinders? And are you sure you know which cylinders are firing? It’s very unusual for genuine coil packs to die. That being said, the factory original coil on my Sister’s Gen3 RX Liberty started playing up at about 485,000km or there abouts. If it...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Neat mate! Looks good all painted up too! Fair call on the plumbing, I hope you don’t burn out a pump if it doesn’t work as expected. What’s with your vertigo? Something you’ve had your whole life or a result of a knock to the head at some point? I hope you’ve had it thoroughly checked out. Happy Ne...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Awesome work there Sam! I hope it does everything you want it to do after all that effort you’ve put in! I’d be working out which port on the EFI pump is the return and plumb your return line from the engine to this. The return port will typically drop fuel straight into the fuel pickup bucket that ...

Re: Mighty Car Mods latest build AUG23!
well it sure won't be anyone from Western Australia :( Yeah Subarino shared that with me. You can point your finger fair and square at your progressive state government laws that only allow the lottery of a new vehicle or a cash prize. Go figure. I wonder how those veteran raffles of the old Aussie...

Re: Red Targa Brumby
Yeah Suby Spanner - the Pajeros are totally underrated and I reckon they’re a bit of a “grown up” Subaru in the offroading world. Great onroad handling and comfort with some quite impressive offroad abilities too. No need to go overboard when setting them up either I reckon. Update on the turbo proj...

Have a read of the post from the 7th of Feb 2023 on page 18 of Redback Brumby. Do you have a link? Re: Wanted working MY Leone FWD 5 Speed Gearbox
G’day Duncan, I have a 1984 L series sedan that’s got a FWD 5spd box. I know this isn’t specifically a Leone gearbox but it’s there if you want it. The car ran fine before it was parked up in the paddock. I wouldn’t want much for it. I’ve also got one of the same gearboxes in pieces that you’re welc...
