I just installed a new set of Gabriel Shockers on front young blokes Subaru and all is ok, but I'm into buying another front set for my Brumby. Just interested to know if KYB are a better brand or any of u blokes out there have any recommendations.

All really interesting stuff. Im just about to replace front struts on young fellows Brumby which has a 2" lift kit with king springs. The king springs are 1" longer under tension than standard Brumby springs which I figure give the body a 3" lift. Originally the 2" extension blocks on top of the st...

Regasing Front Shockers.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to regas Shocker absorbers. I have a set of used Gabriel Ultra Shockers which I think are gas and that I replaced on my front Struts. I was about to toss them away but have been told that they can be regased. Anyone know anything about this.

Yes those hook type you mentioned are not much good on the springs on front of brumby. They do the job but you have to drive the jaws round with a hammer to get enough pullin on the spring and thats bloody scary/dangerous a man could lose fingers or even his head if they let go. Also Im not impresse...

Just finished replacing the shockers on front Brumby. Not a fun job and replaced with Gabriel Ultra G55726. I wondered now why I worried the old ones had no kick back and the new ones don't seem to have much drive. Could have driven along happily with the old ones. The coil springs are bloody strong...

Compressing Springs.

Got spare set of Struts off a Brumby from wreckers so decided to replace the shockers. WOW what a job . Have a set of spring compressors and fitted them but had to drive them round the spring as I tightened them to help pull the spring down. Not a nice job and can be very dangerous.

WRX motor in Brumby.

Im told that a WRX motor will fit in a Brumby but the gearbox is a problem getting to fit. Im now told that the L Series gearbox on the back of the WRX motor is the answer. Anyone out there with this experience.

Catalytic Converter Removal.

Have noticed that the first CV drive shaft boot to break up is the right front. Talking to a Subaru Mechanic and he tells me that the heat from the Catalytic Converter shortens the life of the right front boot and that its removal in my Brumby may be the solution. Any one out there with their views ...

Measured the king springs on the the Brumby with the lift kit installed and they measured 8". Then I measured the standard front springs on the non lifted brumby with the original stock springs and they measured 7". So technically the Brumby with the 2" lift kit plus the 1" king spring lift gives th...

LIFT KIT plus KING SPRINGS.

Is it normal to replace the standard front Coil Springs with King Springs in addition to a 2 inch lift kit. Im having problems with blowing CV boots and have been told by Subaru People that the additional lift is placing xtra stress on the CV Boots.

Yes checked that out. The selector arm is loose where pin goes through the gear lever fitting. Will have to replace the pin with a bolt probably like El Freddo has shown cant get the spring pins and Cotters pins anymore.

Yes I measured height of the Front King Springs on young blokes lifted brumby (Which is fitted with standard Lift Blocks also) from edge of bottom base plate to edge of top base plate is 7" -78mm. Then I did the identical check on my standard non lifted Brumby on the front coil springs and the measu...

If the crossmember lift is the same height as the strut lift than the CV angles will not change and there's no reason the boots would wear or treat any different. Yes he has the lift blocks on the top of his struts which are the same size as the lift blocks on his crossmember, but he has also repla...
