OK, this may not be exciting to anyone else but it certainly is to me. Yesterday, I cut back the paint on part of the panel that goes across the front of the car, below the windscreen and around the wiper arms. A year or so ago I painted this panel off the car with the mixed, original No 15 silver m...

You could try a silver hammertone, i have used it with a paint brush works fine and has the advantage of being very strong, only problem is it ends up with a sheen like galvanised iron, and takes a few days to dry properly, there may be variety that is a plain silver, try rustoleum and see what the...

Bennie I am just looking for options to metallic and needing a clear top coat. From my experience with painting the roof I find the whole metallic/top coat spray painting process difficult. It became obvious I would not be in a position to be able to spray the whole car at the same time. Space to do...

Bantum I might follow up with this Honda silver, even just get a hold of a spray can worth. So far the car still has all of its original 34 year old No 15 Silver paint excepting for the roof. I painted this some time ago when I removed the screwed on luggage carrier racks which had attracted rust un...

This is an example of one of the silver paints within the Dupli-color catalogue. http://ausubaru.com.au/picture.php?albumid=19&pictureid=2457 There are a total of (10) colors for a variety of car makes that are silver and do not have the Clear coat ticked. Am I reading this right in thinking a clear...

Metallic silver paint alternatives

I Hope the following makes sense. My 82 model MY Wagon has a paint code of No 15 which is a metallic silver. I am not a fan of metallic paints but I want the car to remain a silver color of some sort as I go along and repaint panels (the cars name is Silvie so changing the color just wouldn't be rig...

High room Rola roof racks

Looking for 2 x sets (4 in total) Rola High roof roof racks to suit an MY Touring wagon wagon (High roof).
Only looking for racks that are Rola or similar design as I want the curved rack type and not racks with separate bar and mounts.
Anyone got anything ?

Excellent, we are back !!!

The bar look great, I'm going to look at the early Pajero's for a bonnet protector.
Similar bonnet line to the MY's

Just adding, the bullbar has to stay.
We have huge problems with Roos in our region and hitting one without the bull bar would signal the end of the car.

Are you planning on retrofitting the stock front bar also ? You could mill up a set of alloy centre caps out of acetal or similar very easily for day-to-day use. Use badges from a stock MY centre cap to complete the period look. Good idea, might also measure up the alloy rim centers where the caps ...

Thanks Bennie. For some reason today I thought, if I was granted one wish, right up there would be the gift of hindsight. Having been in my "car modifying and car purchasing prime" right through the 80's a bit of future knowledge would have been excellent. Looking back through photos of my 85 model ...

I have been watching the after market rads on ebay and peoples experiences with these such as yours.
I think I will get a hold of another 2nd hand rad and have it refurbished.
Don't know the cost of this but at least all will fit.

Will need to do this when I get a new brake master cylinder from somewhere.

Did you replace the brake booster too ?
If so where did you find one ?

I could look into a rebuild kit for the master cylinder but haven't looked into this yet.

I will start by saying I mean no disrespect to anyone who has the same set up as I previously had. The decision I made applies to me and anyone with the same or similar set up on their car may have an awesome looking vehicle. It is just that my direction with the car changed and I find myself comfor...

Sam
Wondering if your book has the OEM P/N for the 82 Model EA81 engine sump plug gasket.
These are the ones that are crush-able/alloy looking.

No identity - MY Touring wagon

I have had the MY wagon since 1998 and I have made numerous changes to the car as my mood and needs changed. I realised that now the car has no identity or at best has a confused identity. It has the 2" lift but it looked sort of "confused" with the L series 13" sunnies and the rear bumper replaceme...
