It was the ER27, you can't mistake that inlet manifold.
The guy said it was from an SVX and I am no expert of the old 6 banger girls so who was I to argue! Besides I have never seen a XT6 engine in the flesh before either.
No idea what boost it runs, but twin turbos in parallel....surely reasonable?

Impressive RX2 Conversion - Rally Car

Had a local hillclimb today and was stoked to see another Leone turn up, this one was a 89 RX2 Omega Coupe. The owner was not around when i went for a nosey but it was obvious it had a drivechain conversion done, from pearing through the bonnet scoop I thought it might be a WRX engine but the icoole...

Once again - proof that an BMW M3 race car is faster on a track than a Leone.... Like that was a difficult one to work out....

cheers - It would look even better with some sponsorship!! Untinted white makes touchups easy tho. I ended up buying a full willwood brake pedal box and twin willwood MC's with balance bar. About $350NZ I think, so not to bad - but you will need to fab up new mounts and attach the gas pedal to the s...

Hey Rohan - yeah anything i can help with fire me a question and I can at least tell you what i did. I race most the time on gravel as well, just Tarmac in summer when the fire danger is too high in the bush. There will be plenty of gravel vids coming this winter - lol The car felt really predictabl...

This is me getting done by a BMW M3 track race car, not really that fair of a fight but he leaves me for dead coming out of slow corners! I couldn't get the power down without lighting up the inside front tyre. I was super impressed with the turn in I was getting - never felt like understeer at any ...

Thanks guys - I had more or less convinced myself to ditch it but thought i would ask the question in case anyone has had any horror stories. Suparoo - I did not realise it was the factory mounting point for the sump guard, I have never seen one but that is logical and helps explain the amount of ri...

Removing engine crossmember plate?

Hi All, I am working on some modifications to my 85RX rallycar and the little plate bolted to the bottom of the engine crossmember in the middle is in the way... Given it has a lot of ridges in it I am assuming it preforms some usefull purpose to help keep the crossmember from flexing?? Then again i...

NZ rally class's are VERY different to Oz. Only really restrictive for national champ classes, Group N, Grp A, S2000 etc In Clubsport events like I run in it is pretty much run-what-ya-brung type racing so I am in the 4WD class, this class is sometimes split into pre 1993 (Pre Evo/WRX) and 1993 and ...

Just FYI - the engine looks to be a EJ20G, give aways are the plastic header tank, twin bolt coils and single turbo (obviously!). This is the same engine I have so a couple of little hints. Pull and check the coils before you install the engine - check for cracks in the wireing where it goes into th...

Hey All - long time since I posted on here, a mate posted this clip on youtube, shows me spinning out at a recent Hillclimb - worth a laugh. Check out the Evo10 just before me, driven by a 17yr old already 2 seasons into the national champs. He was lucky to get away with his hollywood! http://www.yo...

I mainly want to convert to spherical bearing mount to do away with the rubber mount Yeah, I saw the top view of the strut tops, I just quoted the wrong pic in my reply and for some reason it spits the dummy when I try to edit it. I don't suppose your mate has another pair of the spherical bearing ...

Great thread mate, and top car, looks like you've put in a lot of hard work. Just curious who made the custom strut tops for you. I'm going to make some strut tops of my own, that's no worries, but it's more the spherical bearing and holder that i'm interested in that bolts to the strut top plate. ...
