Seriously impressive stuff, especially the interfacing.
Just hope something silly like an leaky old head gasket doesn't trip you up... but that's trivial for someone of your skills.
If I had 1/10th your skills I'd be 10x better than I am.
Wish you the best of luck and look forward to progress.

So a couple of years down the track now, are diesel owners still having shuddering issues? I am keen to pick up one of these second hand usually with around 150k on them. While I am happy enough to work with DPF and oil dilution issues, was there ever a solution/diagnosis to shuddering (yes I read ...

Updates- 2010 Diesel
Actually don't drive it much now. Left it to the wife. Runs better on winter (alpine) diesel. Has blown a turbo hose (replaced- $400 thanks Subaru), thrown the A/C (at Xmas- and $3000, thanks Subaru), busted glow plugs (haven't bothered and haven't needed ) and even been decarbonised at 100k free of...

Forester tyres update...
Well, just to let you know the Yokohama A/T-S (I think that's right) have lasted over 100,000kms on our car. Amazing. Yes, they're on their last legs but still amazing and great value for money. Oh and the default suspension alignment must be good as they've all worn evenly save for me scrubbing the...

Nice work. As for hot, the problem may more be in summer when the roof gets hot, LEDs don't like heat. And remember the LED emission area is really small and they don't conduct heat well, so the damage gets done as the heat is concentrated. Still at $2 a pop it's a bargain. Reckon cargo area's where...

As well as Jonno said check for faulty brake globes or damaged earths in the brake light circuits. TOONGA Especially if you're towing. Bad trailer lights/wiring are known to trip these types of issues, happened to an acquaintance of mine. If you clear the problem (e.g. unhitch the trailer) and go d...

I still use XP for my main home PCs. My 'new' one's a 7 y.o laptop (core2 duo) whereas our 'main' PC is a 2004 Athlon XP. Quite slow now, but absolutely faultless, I rarely reboot (simply hibernate) more than once a month. Only problem is it won't run the latest Avira 'cos it doesn't have SSD (a Pen...

Toonga, you've impressed me too, well done! I hope you get many years of trouble free motoring. Just keep an eye on the other things to change, like the fuel filter, etc. and several items below from our experience. Quite a few of the oils (gearbox, diff fluids) get changed somewhere around 100 (or ...

I use a generic copy bluetooth OBD-II dongle with Torque Pro on android. THis is a good start and it has worked well with one particluar exceptional fault listed below. I've also had the dongle working with my laptop under XP using a couple of programs, one of which I think is OBDIICrazy. There are ...

HI Toonga, I still lurk here... All Oz spec cars forester diesels are 2010+ and EURO5 (or now 6), therefore DPFed. I haven't done the oil dilution reset myself. Always serviced through the dealer. I cannot remember finding the oil dilution reset information in the manual or the supplement (diesel, A...

Hi, dunno if this suggestion helps but at least the test is easy. This may apply if the digital temp sender (DTS) is a unit requring grounding, e.g. with a metal body/thread designed to be screwed in to metal. First, we have to assume the DTS gauge accurate. From what I read the DTS is in the middle...

They didn't engineer one in the first place. It's not "prioritised", in spite of there being a CVT Outback diesel. One's not due until 2015 . Subaru do their own thing and are a small company, so don't possess the resources or large 'parts bin' of the big companies ( article here too ). Their engine...

DPF regen spacing and winter here in Canberra
My DPF regen woes have disappeared for the moment. It's literally gone from ~65km per regen to 650km per regen, and 110km/h cruising or climbing a hilly pass actually decreases the soot level. Driving to a different environment (i.e. back to Sydney) doesn't make a difference, so I'm attributing it t...

Paul, Fluoro pink would probably be Danielle's choice but I think good old Henry Ford black will do the job and black Velcro should do the trick :) Young ladies and fluoro pink... some things never change! Pay attention here... Good thinking 99.. Nexus 7- velcro mounted
Hey Patrick, Thanks heaps for this and I'll have a play and let you know how it goes. We haven't got her new Foz yet we pickup in a couple of weeks. We got it for under 20k and it has just hit 100k like yours. I can't wait to try out this Nexus and Torque Pro setup :) Hi Paul, here's where I've set...
