The "Turbo" or "RX Turbo" are supposed to be bigger than the "4wd" part. If you can find out if they have "RX TURBO fulltime 4WD" stickers, that would be awesome. Both the sides, rear & front. I can PM you an email address. Is the backing sheet clear for the stickers? If so, can you lay it over a gr...

FujiFan, sorry, wasn't trying to have too much of a go at you. I'm not an expert either & only going off my experiences. But, as my experiences of being a moderator on a car forum, saying "generalisations" is bad, and IMHO isn't what forums are about. The reason is that newbies come on here & other ...

If Paul is right and the CV inner cups with groves on the outer surface are for 25 spline then even my FWD 5spd man in my wedge is 25 spline. Doug I daresay factory Subaru ones might have been like that. But who's to know what the aftermarket do. And considering the way that these vehicles chew fro...

That's why I wanted to clarify. Your statement about being JDM, therefore 1.19 low range isn't correct. Turbo boxes in the EA82, no matter which market, had the 1.19 low range. NA still had 1.592 low range. Some markets might still have had the 1.19 low in NA. Sorry, but I have an issue with people ...

series 1: 84-87 series 2: 87-94 (the facelifted one with changed dashboard) The problem is nowadays, who's to know what gearbox swaps & mods have been done... I know lots in Qld who put 25 spline shafts into NA boxes when they wanted 3.9 diffs in turbo models. Just need to make sure that the stuff m...

FujiFan, do you know the source of the last gearbox you've listed? Cos I know of others who've sourced boxes from Japan (in NA halfcuts) that had the 1.592 low range. So this suggests to me that the box you've listed is from a turbo. I'm curious to check out about the NA EFI getting 25 splines. Seem...

Well, I've had a dual-range full time 4wd box with centre diff lock (JDM) in the past. It came from a turbo. These only came in the series 2. 23 spline I fitted that box to an 85 model manual touring wagon. The driveshafts fitted. Although I swapped the shafts from the 85 JDM half cut I bought. turb...

Brumby box will have 23 splines on the output, what about your box ? If from any mpfi will be 25 if from factory. huh? The only 25 spline boxes I've seen were the turbo manual part time 4wd types. All the turbo autos were still 23 spline (well all the boxes I've had over the years have), and certai...

:D Works for me.
I only mentioned about the Impreza cos of the cage situation. Much easier to get one for it.
And the rest of that stuff does sound pretty trivial, just like you said, adds up.

But, I'm sure you could get it engineered if you wanted to. Don't go ridiculous with the offset however.
Get the speedo adjusted (EJ gearbox in L needs EJ sized wheels to read correctly, well at least mine did)

A lift kit doesn't give you extra ground clearance, it just raises the body which helps with the approach & departure angles. I wouldn't trust a lift kit with rally abuse. Look around for the Bilstein suspension. It has thicker shafts (and may even be upside down) as these are the part of the suspen...

I'd wanna see some samples first.
I got sent a link to a page of someone in the US who'd done some up.
But, hadn't done the "RX", nor "full-time 4wd" part
And made the "4" in 4wd look like an "A" by not doing it correctly.

I want to do this also, but start with a wagon bottom so the tray is bigger.

If you're pushing a button to engage 4wd, then no, it's not dual range.
The 2nd lever has 3 positions (FWD, 4wd high, 4wd low) & makes your 4wd button redundant.

What's the bet the Subaru was trying the harder stuff, and the Tercel was second, and hence didn't get bogged :p
