Re: Revs and revs till stalls, what could it be?

Probably the line that goes to the vacuum reservoir for the HVAC controls. This is a required item.

Re: WRX EJ20 Turbo into L-Series Wagon

Had some time this week to crack along with it 8) CVs and front suspension is all in; https://imghostr.net/images/2019/02/01/5cd2d5def377588d0ea6252821ec8a57.jpg Slung the exhaust under. I'm happy with the middle section, and the WRX one conveniently ends in the right spot to run a pipe over the rea...

Re: WRX EJ20 Turbo into L-Series Wagon

Any updates L-Rex? I've been pretty busy at work, but have started to get the rest of the driveline back together. D/S front CV in and suspension bolted in. More time has been spent on wiring, but not really a photo moment  Rebuilt heater box and dash still has to go back in, but that will be ...

Re: Brake upgrade that retains 4x140PCD questions

The OEM rear disc setup is available, and works well. Slotted discs and good pads are available for the vehicle and deliver increased braking performance.

Any chance a couple of the regular/"oldskool" users are able to take on these tasks?
Like you, I'm on here just about every day, and am more than happy to help out.

Stay the course gents, I'm sure it will get sorted eventually.

I would suggest that membership is set to Admin/Mod approval, and set new members to require post approval for the first couple of posts.

Re: OBD2 Connection Problems 1999 Subaru Forester Limited

If yours is pre-OBD, it will have the green connectors under the steering column.

Here is the procedure for the early WRX (Forester is the same process).

Re: WRX EJ20 Turbo into L-Series Wagon

With the intercooler, those two black dots in the spare wheel well are mounting points for the bracket that the space saver spare sits on. They could be a good mount point for the cooler, unless you want the cooler to move with the engine. You read my mind Bennie! I'm going to pick up from those mo...

Re: WRX EJ20 Turbo into L-Series Wagon

Shortened up the pitch rod, it's just the L one cut down, and fits the WRX gearbox. https://imghostr.net/images/2018/12/08/87d90f50cb59a417ce6f901da1fa32a7.jpg Radiator hoses are often the bane of engine conversions, but I went through the Gates catalogue and found ones with the requires 32mm - 44mm...

Re: Forester utility

You will have to find something to weld in as the rear cab window section.

I'd look at grafting the rear tailgate onto the C pillars, but as a non-opening panel.

Re: Buyers remorse, need inspiration!

Glad you are getting some success!

2.25" exhaust is way too big, you will lose all your low end torque. 2" is just fine, even with a Weber, cams and ported heads.

You just need to get by the DPF issue.
It's city driving, and zero freeway driving, that kills the DPF

Nothing that a remap and a delete pipe won't sort out.

Or you can buy a reasonably inexpensive scan tool and do a force burn every now and again.

Re: Buyers remorse, need inspiration!

And an EA81 would be an upgrade in the L series over the EA82... bullet proof without the rubber bands to run the cams ;) An even better upgrade would be the Diesel. No rubber bands, awesome ECU remap potential, and mind-numbing torque off idle. When they come down in price, I might look at sandwic...

Re: WRX EJ20 Turbo into L-Series Wagon

I've never seen anyone use 3 factory pieces for the gearbox crossmember. Looks really neat! Cheers, I like to use as much of the factory gear as possible. Plus, powdercoat makes everything look nice. From past experience, I know that the powdercoating bill for this build will exceed the purchase pr...
