Tell your wife thanks for the interesting idea ;) Seems like eucalyptus oil would get stickers and vinyl off if they were in one piece, but it might not have enough kick to get these ones off, they are seriously baked on :???: WD-40 gets the sticky residue off, but only after I can get the vinyl off...

Today I managed to get some of the citrus based cleaner/remover, lucky I only got the smallest bottle they had because it did absolutely nothing, not even on the goo where the vinyl was already removed  There is still alot of suggestions yet to try, but if they all come to nothing, in the ...

I think my dads L series has the same noise if I understand you right. I've also heard a few other EA82 subarus around the place with exactly the same noise. Sounds like a constant rattling coming from the engine which increases/decreases with revs. If I remember right, when my dad took it in to be ...

That's interesting about the steam cleaner, haven't heard that one before. I'll give it a try when I can get a steamcleaner from somewhere. Sven, I have heard the paint could be darker underneath, and I think that might have happened under some parts (it is a repeating pattern and I think it has hap...

Crusty old graphics

Hey everyone, I need some help removing some old vinyl graphics from my car. So I've searched all over the place for tools, techniques, chemicals etc and none of them cater for graphics over about 5 or 6 years old. The graphics on my car are about 25 years old  So now they are properly bak...

I do mine the other way - preventative. Oil and filter change at 10,000km intervals - easy to remember when done when odometer does its 10,000 , 230,000, 240,000 etc no need for lube stickers or dates on filters, the tight tars in me also changes engines over near the 10,000 mark to save on oils :)...

Well, once again, it was the simplest possible answer which was the right one  Turns out the #4 spark plug was faulty, oh and the exhaust valve clearance was out by a couple of thou. We checked all the clearances first on all cylinders, and only #4 exhaust was out. So we put that right, pu...

If the pressure test confirms down pressure then you are going to have to at very least do the heads / valves, whilst you have the heads off - you can check the bores if worn or scored then its a strip and bore / rebuild, unless you opt to change for another lump. I had an EA81 which was down press...

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone, I'll get around to trying them all sooner or later ;) How do I get the cylinders pressure tested? Does the car have to go to a garage or can you do it with one of those gauges you see at supercheap? Steptoe, I swapped the leads over and there was no differenc...

#4 cylinder missing

Right, got another problem with the MY :( It's cylinder #4, it has been on and off for ages but now it just wont fire at all. It hurts to hear her sounding so sick and the exhaust smelling like straight petrol :( Anyway, like I said it had been on and off for a long time, sometimes it would be fine ...

Unbelievable...it's taken me nearly a week, I had the blower motor out, I had the control panel apart trying to find the problem, when all it was, was a 25A fuse!:evil: lol I guess I should have RTFM first on fuses, it says the fuse should be the first thing to check if something goes wrong :...

steptoe, nah this car has never had AC...kinda glad now as it would be a bit more to worry about haha I had a look behind the control panel to see what's up, and on the see-saw action where two vacuum tubes go in, they were both disconnected. Also, all the cables were still there, sliding the screen...

Wow where do you guys drive? ;) Most I ever found was a sharpie, oh and some Liberty parts - Looked like someone had a prang and just left their bumper, hub caps, subaru badge and some other broken plastic.

Ah ok then many thanks for the info, I'll have a look behind the control panel this week. And it turns out I was wrong about the motor, it works fine but there is no power coming through the power cable if you try to turn it on, guess I should have checked that first haha  So it seems more...

A bit more info, I just took the motor apart (just removed 2 nuts) and it is FULL of carbon dust, so I'm thinking I could replace the brushes and see what happens since they look a bit short. Everything else in there looks about right, nothing broken.
