Have a safe & Merry Christmas!
To those few remaining active members and anyone else that reads on anonymously, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable silly season. Don’t be one of the many dickheads that seem to come out at this time of year! Here’s to a prosperous New Year and many parts of...

Re: Red Targa Brumby
Yeah Suby Spanner - the Pajeros are totally underrated and I reckon they’re a bit of a “grown up” Subaru in the offroading world. Great onroad handling and comfort with some quite impressive offroad abilities too. No need to go overboard when setting them up either I reckon. Update on the turbo proj...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Have a read of the post from the 7th of Feb 2023 on page 18 of Redback Brumby. Do you have a link? I can't find it sorry :( I think Sam means this one? which you’ve read before. https://ausubaru.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=23889&start=160#p271696 It’s up and running with a cooling system but has an...

Re: Wanted working MY Leone FWD 5 Speed Gearbox
G’day Duncan, I have a 1984 L series sedan that’s got a FWD 5spd box. I know this isn’t specifically a Leone gearbox but it’s there if you want it. The car ran fine before it was parked up in the paddock. I wouldn’t want much for it. I’ve also got one of the same gearboxes in pieces that you’re welc...

Re: Red Targa Brumby
And what's this about Ruby scoo? Haven't seen nor heard much about her for a while ;) She’s been stored at M&D’s for the last two years  It’s about time she came home to our new place so I can tinker with her or take her on the odd drive to get her back into shape. We haven’t been offroad in q...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Neat work Sam! It looks awesome.
Will you make a cover to sit over the top of it to avoid crap building up in that new cavity? Could be worth the effort.
If you want to test for leaks, compressed air, no more than 2psi unless you want a ballon for a fuel tank…
Cheers
Bennie

Re: Red Targa Brumby
Thanks Bumpty, I’m glad a mention of Ruby Scoo put a smile on your dial! This might too: Redback brumby made a “cameo appearance” at the 26min 28s mark in the latest MCM video below! Surely this is a sign that Marty loves the brumby now too  https://youtube.com/watch?v=XqWC5w0y4rM The misfi...

Re: Red Targa Brumby
Hmmm… I hadn’t thought about backlash on the worm gear which would mean a retune would be needed I’d say. No play in the shaft beyond about half a mm going by my finger dial gauge. It’s a putting like loss of power when cruising. Glad it didn’t do that on the road trip! I was already paranoid about ...

That's a foregone conclusion Bennie... Sth East Queensland.    Bwhahahaha!! Good one Subyroo! I know for sure it won’t be in my driveway… it hasn’t been said that I can’t buy tickets to win but it just seems wrong to have a go just incase Murphy is playing. That’d be embarrassi...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
I love that bracketry and the tiny little spal fan! It’s pretty common practice to put your fan in then fit the radiator in place then finally fit the fan to the radiator! Sounds like the tank mods are the hold up now. Did you contact Subarino to see what advice he could offer as he’s done this mod ...

I believe this isn’t far off from having tickets released. Last I heard they were sorting the last of the approvals in one or two states for the raffle.
Patience. Even though I’m keen to see who wins it or at least which state it ends up in.

Re: Red Targa Brumby
So now Redback developed a misfire at cruise. It’s weird - under load no issues. Hit that light throttle at cruise and on it comes, no rhythm to it, just random putting and loss of power that’s “gently jolty” at this point. I’m worried if I keep driving it I’ll be left stranded on the side of the ro...

That soldering trick on the PS line is a neat work around. Hopefully extending the return line is just as straight forward.
How are the tank mods coming along?

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Oooh good one. No brainer if it was me - I’d be further modifying the fuel tank to avoid cutting the vehicle up. But that’s my way of operating with my vehicles. Or think of it this way. What’s going to look neater/natural to a fellow Subaru nut? If there’s a slight bulge in the cargo floor they may...

Yeah mate that’s and epic amount of work! Kudos on fix that rust. I’m too busy driving mine atm to fix those issues. I’m hoping mine is held at bay until I can get to it. The carb issue is best resolved with and EJ conversion  My understanding of the carb and emissions is that you need to b...

Re: Silverbullets' resto: Engine, gearbox, suspension
Suby Spanner that’s all too common now with exhausts in parts yards. As for the turbo manifold, all EJs are dual pot exhaust in Oz from my understanding and they fit. That single port thing seems to be a US build/requirement at the time. Depending on which SOHC head/engine you’re using will depend o...

Re: 2022 Forester Battery drain
That’s fair enough with wanting to do a prelim check. If the backup fuse is also responsible for the interior lights, is there one that’s staying on all the time? I’m wondering if there’s one in a door jamb that’s on that you can’t see. I like the idea of the heat gun but I think accessing all the m...

G’day Mihajlo, Welcome to the forum. You’re English is going well ;) Shame about the smashed 2010 Impreza, not a good start I’m guessing. All the best with selling the parts. On the forum they’ll probably move slowly, sadly Facebook has all but killed off forums, they’re very inactive these days but...
