I saw some on ebay for $10 each + postage so probably the same price with that.

There are a couple of good Subaru parts dealers in Canberra so i'll check them out too if I need to go down that path...

Thanks Paul, I've tried a lifter cleaner but it's still the same and I checked the other seal when I had the pump off and it looked ok, but it has been sitting for about 4 years so who knows :-? I'll try the spacer first because it will be the easiest to do and go from there. The compliance plate is...

Hahaha. Yeah trying to get the black sludge out from under my finger nails sucks so I started wearing them whenever I work on a dirty motor.

It wasn't to bad, just need a couple of correct sized sockets a hammer and patience, you need to do lots of small taps with the hammer on the end of the socket making sure it's going in true...but I did stuff one up, lucky they're only $3.50...

Thanks tex. I appreciate the offer. I'll let you know if I get stuck. The cam belts were pretty loose so I tightened them up. I've replaced the split hoses and just need ti pick up a new bearing for the idler pulley. I'm going to pull the oil pump one day this week and make sure it's working properl...

Thanks steptoe, will do...

Well she started. But idles on the verge of stalling and she's got a bit of a death rattle going on. I going to look at the timing belt and then oil pump.

If I have no luck i'll start a thread and see what other ideas there are out there.

Cheers

Yeah, $400 is not bad. It's straight and no signs of rust that I can see. It's just the motor that may need some work. It's had a pretty bad oil leak at some stage, it's got oil splashed all down the headers, underside of the sump and gearbox so i'll have to check that out but first thing is to get ...

I will pick up a battery for it tomorrow.

Just found a couple of split fuel hoses and coolant hoses so i'll replace them and see how it goes.

Fingers are crossed...

Hi from ACT

Hi all, Thought i'd say hello and post a pic of my wagon I just picked up for $400. It's a 1990, 5 speed, dual range, Mpfi with 290,000kms but has had an exchanged engine at some point in it's life. It hasn't run for a few years so i'm going to replace the old fuel, oil, coolant and filters, chuck i...
