Hey, thanks for the reply Bantum -- with pin 2 and 3, do I have to add 12v to them to make it operate - as in, [Pin1=12v, Pin2=12v, Pin3=0, Pin6=earth] = UP and [Pin1=12v, Pin2=0, Pin3=12v, Pin6=earth] = Down...sorry for being such a simpleton - cheers

Help - with powering a Forester window up/down?

Hey guys, I was wondering if any auto elec/sparkies - or innately cluey blokes - could help me power a window up/down on a door that isn't attached to the car [2003 Forester]. I have a diagram of the loom that plugs into the body, I just need to know where to put the power etc. and what to short if ...

External Automatic Transmission Filter?

Hey guys, pretty trivial - but how often do you replace your 4EAT A/T External Transmission Filter [if ever]? I noted that the subaru manual recommends replacing the fluid every 50k klms, but makes no mention of the filter? What are your thoughts, Cheers

Cheers Gannon, I guessed as much. Would you be able to tell me if the 12v auxillary [which is the same gauge as all the other wires in the loom] would be alright for charging a 12v car battery on my trailer; i'm just worried that the thickness [as in thin], may not be adequate - but that would only ...

08/97-03/08 Forester Trailer Plug Pin-Out? Electric Bake Controller

Hey guys, I have a Round 7-pin trailer cable connected to my 2003 XS Forester (it's not the original subaru plug-in variety, it came with it when I got it)...any how, upon inspection I noticed the following: http://www.powsow.com/subaru/SubaruXS2003Pinout_ed.jpg Can anyone tell me what 1,6,8,10 are/...

Yeah, I think this quest, like the holy-grail, is going to fall short. It's not all bad, though - I'll just have to get a locksmith to encode a new transponder - which is still a hell of a lot cheaper than the Stealership. I dont think it's worth buying a Transponder Duplicator, unless there were a ...

Hey Doug, thanks for your thoughts - yeah, you'd still need the key to be cut correctly before you could program the key to the car [in order to steal]. Which leads me to...many other manufactures have proven 'car enconded enabling' methods, but admittedly, most involve having [requiring] two origin...

Quest for the Holy 'Spare Key'?

Hey guys, once again, I'm after your thoughts. So as some of you know, i've been donating money to my local dealer recently -- and feel somewhat a little disappointed with the way they manage my donations ;) ...anyhow, when asked to support them further for $378 to get a spare key for my other halfs...

Yeah, got it sorted - what a waste of time and money. Took them 10m, then I waited around *for no apparent reason, other than to increase the hourly rate/time to justify $137.50* ...in the end, it was a 'means to an end'. So we got the car on the road [...so good to return the car we've been borrowi...

Hey guys, it's going to cost $137.50 - which is a lot better than $540-700 for a full dismantle inspection as quoted in Melbourne. WOW??!! Anyhow, I can *somewhat* live with that - but as described to me by a Subaru Rep - "...we're going to try and prove you can resuscitate someone whilst they are s...

Exactly mate! But try and tell the *the nice fellow* who did the inspection; 'so frustrated!' As it costs/takes me quite a while to drive backwards and forwards for such nonsense. Anyhow, does anyone know how much it's going to cost?

Subaru Dealerships -anyone work at one in VIC or know how much a SRS report costs?

Hey guys, does anyone know/or work at a Subaru Dealership in Victoria [Melb region]...or alternatively, know how much an 'SRS inspection and report' will cost [when they hook up an OBD cable]? I have to get one for a VIV [which is a load of Bollocks, but I was silly enough to show photos of the inte...

cheers for all the advice guys - I went with a watered down blend and opted for a bit more manual labour, just to be safe - good thing, too - for I found a couple of things that needed amending along the way...so thanks again :)

Pretty trivial, but what do you guys use for engine cleaning?

G'day all, my donk is looking a little dirty [a fair bit of residual oil, but no major leaks] - so to give her a freshen up - what type of cleaning product / degreaser do you recommend? I've used a couple of brands in the past on some old bangers with mixed success, but nothing on the Foz. Any tips ...

Hey Frog, thanks for the offer mate - but I imagine all that gear would probably be more than what the motor is worth brand new [...as I'm not sure it's even going to run]. I have a fair bit of Forester MY00 gear that I could swap with someone if they're keen? Thanks guys.
