I've done a rear disc brake conversion on my Brumby.

Mine is earlier XT6 and does not have rear handbrake or ABS.

Piece of cake conversion.

What front brakes are you using?

I have three Vehs. Two Petrol Hilux's which I have run on 15w-40 Diesel engine oil since new and they have Way over 200000ks. I've now decided to run my Brumby on 15-40 Diesel Engine Oil. Its not an oil users on 20-50 normal oil and has compressions of 1125-1127-1123-1125 kPa on the 4 Cylinders. I c...

Ok, Engine is in, has been run. As per hastings break in procedure, run the engine for about 20 min's at a high idle. At least until she's fully warmed up. Il pop the rocker covers off now and retorque the heads and adjust the tappets. Then Hastings say to get on a HWY and do 10 pulls from 30mph to...

Some food for thought: From Ross Racing Pistons: Side (or lateral) clearance is the measurement of the space between the sides of the piston groove and the ring. Unless otherwise ordered, ROSS will machine all pistons for a side clearance of .002 to .004. Some engine builders prefer to have us reduc...

Manifold vacuum is below the throttle plate, hence "manifold vacuum". Ported vacuum is a vacuum port on the side of the carburettor just above the throttle plate. The vacuum nipple could be anywhere on the side and communicates with said port via an internal passage within the carb. Ported spark adv...

Have you got the correct rings now?

Rings are NOT meant to bottom in the ring lands.

Combustion pressure needs to get behind the ring to help keep it tensioned against the bore.

Thanks guys, Yes Steptoe, I have tried this and it does kick in when a second person sucks while engine running which is another reason I'm baffled. Also, are you saying that if the secondary kicks in with engine running it is either not the air valve above the butterfly (or I don't have one)? If t...

Damian,

I'll check dimensions from the pics supplied.

2.5 inch will be more than ample although the note will be different, from cam compression etc.

Good in theory, to reduce unsprung weight.

Though, EXTREMELY poorly executed, waiting for failure.

Tweety, just some suggestions. I would get some new plugs and start from scratch. Then you can read the plugs and they will tell you how the engine is running. What you'd want to do is put in the new plug, start it up, pull away without letting it idle for too long do a WOT pull up the road (if it ...

Bryan, The gearbox has no centre diff. You can't drive on hard terrain (bitumen, etc) in 4WD. "Wind up" in the driveline is the result. Steering goes heavy because all the wheels are fighting each while trying to travel at the same road speed when they should be going at different speeds. Don't pull...

Yeah just replace it. According to Bosch they only have a service life of 80,000kms anyway That's correct, about average "service" life. Not my car :p . The O2 sensor that came on my L turbo looked genuine, maybe original, was old in years, 188,000km and had seen quite a few litres of water and coo...

Unlikely to be a pressure plate finger out of line.

Could be a broken clutch plate spring.

Does it have any abnormality with the clutch - shudder, grab, slip etc?

But if the noise is gone now, there is nothing to diagnose.

Keep an eye on it.

[quote="555Ron"]Gary, I think the only difference between EA71 and EA81 pistons is the height from gudgeon pin to the top surface of the piston. I haven't seen any EA71 pistons that had a domed top surface. But I may be wrong... Ok, just to give this a bit of a bump... the dream is still alive. I ha...

More than likely the Brandt is the cause of your problem.

My 2002 WRX EVO 5 has an issue of no crank intermittently hot, I know if I knock the dash near the glovebox, it will crank and run normally.

Google Brandt, there heaps on the net.
