Re: The RS6 - 1st gen Liberty EZ30D Conversion
So should post an update more that two years late... Car still running like a champ, haven't changed anything about the swap and everything's perfect except - The cordial bottle overflow has melted a bit - The catalytic converters are cooked - I am getting cat efficiency codes and I believe they are...

Its a shame that numbers 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 would have had little effect :( Because it grows with speed it's definitely something that's rotating. The frequency will indicate if it is engine or gearbox related or driveshaft/unsprung related. If it's high enough frequency to sound 'buzzy', then its tr...

What I am surprised about is there is a common series of CV join sizes, yet there is no reference or catalogue anywhere I can find which details the inner (bar side) or outer spline details! Without that info matching anything is useless. I don't know if the likes of NTN provide the OEMs like Subaru...

Cheers for the tip man. I'm aware od SubaDaves part. Its essentially an inner race with a 22 tooth spline that goes onto the R160 shaft. Very little info in exactly who he gets to make them. They are also 200 dollars US, which just for the race is a bit of a rort, and I'd have use my old shafts whic...

'Custom' could simply mean matching splines and slipping different CVs onto a shaft used on another vehicle. CV's drive shafts and diffs seem to be very standardised. For example, the R180 long nose diff is used in allot of old Nissans. So are R160s. People swap subie ones into Datsuns all the time....

Because I have two of them just siting in my shed. And you have a better selection LSDs. For example, I have a clutch pack diff and a torsen to choose from, and i'm fitting the torsen because I expect it to be a nicer diff to drive around town with - This will be my only car when its done. Can't get...

El Freddo: No you can't man, not mechanically. When operating in closed loop (ie when you're stopped), the computer is constantly taking feedback from the crank speed measurement and adjusting the IACV position to achieve a preset RPM. I think I can change my preset value through FreeSSM, but thats ...

Cheers man! Engine's sorted now. Runs nicely. Wish the EZ had a manual ECU I could drop in, that would have made life allot easier. I've found in other 'proper' manual Subarus I've driven since that idle air don't operate on closed loop while moving either - Their idle is always a little high when m...

FS: EJ22 Reco'd 40k ago

Solved the high idle while moving. And, well, durr. It was an air leak. So playing around with the idle air control valve and the orifice plate caused me to remove the rubber seal, which was swollen and wouldn't fit back in. I thought any leakage would be negligible, turns out I was wrong. It appear...

Patrick_1: I've got a ELM327 dongle, and it works great with the android app. Once I get my lappy working I'll try FreeSSB. Highly doubt I can really get into the ECU though, enough to see whats going on with the TCU interface. In the android app, I can see all the sensors listed and some things are...

So been playing about a bit - The orifice plate seems to be the main thing reducing rev hang, unfortunately it does greatly effect stall protection. I would rather have smoother gear changes than have stall protection, so I don't care. Carbs never had stall protection, and we lived without. - The ai...

Patrick_1: Cheers for the response man, its good to be challenged think a bit deeper about these things! 1) TBH, I have for along time thought rev-hang, and the vacuum dashpots on carbs, where for NOx reduction. I first read about it when I actually owned (still do) a car with a carb - 1st gen Honda...

Updated El Freddo, read above. Also, to stop the Taco dancing around I added a filter cap to my circuit http://i809.photobucket.com/albums/zz13/ajd979/Subaru%20things/Engine%20Swap/DSCF0025_zpsofjwbjdm.jpg Looks like with all the wiring bunched up and tied together I'm getting some noise in my Taco ...
