Merry Christmas one and all. I've pretty much been a lurker for quite a while but I do like reading about what everyone has been up to. As for not getting things done this year ... yep, that's me too :-/ Luckily the L Series is still running great, I did give her new tyres just before Christmas but ...

Sorry for the thread hijack but I'm looking at upgrading from my L Series to an Outback. Does anyone have any thoughts on the 2.5L four over the 3.0L six? There seems to be very few manuals advertised - how good is the auto gearbox? I've only ever had manual cars but this will be my daily driver/kay...

WRXpc - I feel your pain mate! Ruby Scoo still sports a modified coat hanger release system that boycotts the cable setup - still there even with the replacement cable! Bennie I forgot - new fan belts two weeks ago too! :-) Still need: wheel bearings, CVs, roof lining, seat fixing, spot lights wire...

I don't post much, but - when I bought my wagon the bonnet release cable was broken and the previous owner had replaced it with a piece of baling wire, leaving a coil of it where the handle used to be to open the bonnet. This eventually broke off and I was forced to use a pair of pliers on what was ...

I check every day but as I'm not doing anything new with the wagon I don't have much to contribute :-/

The old girl is going to be up for sale in the new year anyway as I want to go down to one car, so my plans/dreams/aspirations of doing her up have fallen by the wayside.

Wow dude $200 is pretty good for a A/C service. $200 was to have the compressor sent to Japan to be serviced - removing/regassing/refitting (and I assume, postage) was all on top of this. Subydoug, any ideas on what other models might fit? Is there a difference in the pipe/connector size that I wou...

Advice on Air Con compressor in L series Touring Wagon

Hi there, As the title says, I need some advice on what to do about my air con compressor please. I had the system re-gassed but the guy doing it said my compressor was knackered and needed replacing. He also said they could be serviced but that he would have to remove it and send it to Japan, which...

Wanted - L series bonnet release cable

Hi there,

Anyone wrecking an L Series Touring Wagon? I'm looking for a bonnet release cable as mine has broken. It was dodgy when I bought it, and not it's completely gone so I'm on the hunt for a new/replacement one.

I'm in Perth so let me know what you have, thanks.

Cheers,

Auto upholstery trimmer - Perth recommendations?

Hi there, I thought this should go in the workshop area somewhere but I couldn't see an upholstery/trim area? My apologies if I've over looked it. It's time to spend a little cash and show a little love to the wagon, and I want to start with the roof lining as it's currently held up with thumb tacks...

93 L Series Wagon in Perth

Up for sale is my 93 L Series Wagon. It's been used as my daily driver for 12 months now and is a great little car. Starts first time, driving it nice I get 500km out of tank of fuel, and being a wagon it can carry all sorts of crap without being too big to park at the local shops. When I bought it ...

Success! Tonight I pulled the clutch pedal assembly apart from under the dash and discovered that, despite my liberal coating of Silicone spray, the white bushes inside the pedal pivot were bone dry. I cleaned everything up with a rag and lacking proper grease I coated them inside and out in Silicon...

Hi there, An update on the progress so far. I went for a short drive on Saturday and discovered (as expected) that the exhaust does indeed hit on the cross member while driving. Besides being a pain in the backside, is this going to cause any damage until I can fix it or find a replacement cross mem...

The engine crossmember has not been modified to allow for the turbo engine pipe. A well thought out EA82 turbo conversion will either have the turbo Xmember retro fitted or have the N/A xmember modified to allow for the turbo exhaust manifold. Hi FujiFan, thanks for adding your two cents! I'm in th...

Paul: Thanks mate, photos would be very useful. I can't get to you this weekend but if you let me know when you are leaving I'll see what I can do. If not this time it will have to wait until you get back. Steptoe: So you think I'm missing an EGR solenoid? I'm thinking the more I look at this, the m...

Thanks Paul, I'll see what I can do to get down before you go. The car seems to run fine now that I've had the injectors serviced but I've only driven it around the block, so I don't know anything about overheating etc. I've bled the brakes and they seem good so I'll go for a drive one night this we...

Thanks Steptoe, The knock sensor wire is attached to nothing, it's just a single wire coming out of the sensor and plugs into nothing. Where would the ECU be? I did find this in the back after I cleaned up today: The compliance plate is Australian but after what Paul said about...

Hi guys, Thanks for the responses. I have attached some pictures to this post, hopefully you can see what I mean by them. I was sort of leaning on the suspension tower on the drivers side looking forward-ish when I took these. I think this is a boost controller, however it's just swinging in the bre...

EA82T Vacuum lines

hi There, I've recently picked up an 89 Touring Wagon with the EA82T engine. Unfortunately one of the previous owners has cut out and blocked off some of the vacuum lines and it's not running right, so I want to put them back how they should be. Is there anyone else here with the same engine configu...
