You'll be lucky to find Sunraysia's second-hand (except through eBay), but generic "L" series 13" rims are pretty common. I know of a handful in wreckers here at the moment. I would highly recommend 14" Pug's (from a 504) or similar for on-road use - the handling with standard 13" rims is horrible c...

>>the coupe doors are better because of crash panels inside I never knew that one...I'd have thought with the ADR's both would have HAD to be sold in Australia with crash panels. Maybe because the Brumby was a different class it got around the ADR requirement. I'll have to have a look at a coupe doo...

I saw that burgundy wagon couple weeks back, took the front mudflaps off it for my Brumby. Talk about fully optioned, pretty much everything available at the time (dig dash, p/s, a/c, mudflaps all round, touring wagon hi-top room, etc) ! There's also a real early 4 door EA81 (80-81, with the angled ...

They will fit a 2wd MY or L, but not a 4wd so no good for a Brumby.

Pretty much ALL the US Brat's (Brumby's) came with jump (rear) seats to get around the US pickup truck duties. I think only the last year - 1987 ? - were sold without. People riding in the back of utes is not at all uncommon in the US or Mexico - I saw more than a few pickups loaded with 10-20 peopl...

The ideal thing would be to take photos and upload them (of the cars at wreckers), but most places won't let you take in cameras. I guess a camera phone photo would be ok-ish...

Give it a couple of years and you won't see MY's in wreckers anymore, just late L's and Liberty's...

Jolly's has 3 Liberty's, but I didn't check 2wd/4wd - sorry (only just found this thread again). There is a light blue/green wagon with all mechanicals but interior is a mess, a maroon sedan with probable damage to the engine (hit in the front right corner), good interior, and a silver wagon - can't...

I was at Kilsyth pick-a-part yesterday, 2 MY's (a red Wagon and a white 83 DL sedan), and a metallic light green auto L series wagon. Nothing worth touching on any of them. I'll try Jolly's on saturday (I'm looking for a GL-5 grey gearknob).

EA82 intake

>>have heard on here or on ultimate subaru that you can swap the intake manifold off a ea82 on to the ea81. not sure how true it is and if it helps you any

Yes, you can fit an EA82 intake manifold to an EA81 but there's neglible performance gain based on feedback - maybe 1-2 hp.

>>rang around for some qoutes today, looking at 50 bucks a rim sand blasted and powder coated

Cost me $20 a rim and sand-blasting was free...I can get pretty much anything sand-blasted here at work (we use large imported castings, and have our own room-size sand-blasting booth) :D

One of the guys at work did a mates 18" Skyline GTS rims just before I did my Pugs, and no problems at all with sand-blasting or powder-coating. The sand-blasting gives an excellent adhesive fi...

>>If it is an RX or MPFI box then you will have the big output shafts

Quick question about the above statement - I bought an L-series box awhile back and I was told it has the big output shafts and won't work on a Brumby - correct ?

I sand-blasted my Pug's and had them powder-coated when I got them - but I've got ready access to both sand-blasting and powder-coating facilities :D Either way, you'll still need to do some sanding to get a smooth finish. It all comes down to how picky you are, and how you're likely to treat the ca...

The rims are slightly bigger than 15", but I don't know what tolerances the tyre makers allow - might be worth asking a Pug wrecker if they're done the same thing in the past. 16" would definitely NOT fit.

I believe only Michelin supply them in Australia at about $250/300 per tire. I did look into machining down a set to 384mm (15"), but not to a point of actually buying them - it would depend on the rim width, 3mm from the diameter isn't a great deal to mill off but obviously would affect the strengt...

Both the 504 & 505 share the same 4x140 bolt pattern but I think the 504 has the right offset for Subaru's.

From memory, the 4 speed can handle 90 hp and an EJ can produce a fair bit more than that so I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a light foot

If you're changing engines, you might as well put the 5 speed in at the same time. You'll need an adaptor plate either way...

I bought it for $400 in the end, it's got rego to end of July but ATM it's just sitting in the shed as a back-up 5 speed in case the other 5 speed going into the Brumby turns out to be no good (getting the 5 speed fitted next week, actually). I was thinking of putting it on eBay complete if the 5 sp...
