Just want to say thanks to all those who took the trouble to provide information, particularly FROG re the cooler. Now all I have to do is find a good second hand camper trailer, a couple of likely prospects on Gumtree today, and set off as a much wiser person when towing it.

Thanks Jake for the info, I will only be towing relatively light on road stuff so hopefully won't need the heavy duty springs. The car is fitted with the factory tow bar.

I have had several Forester's, current one an '06 XS auto, but have never towed anything other than the trailer to the local tip.
