reinstalling 2" lift kit

Hi, I Just started installing my old 2" lift into my new L-series , not sure if the strut lifts are in the right way! either that arrow meant point towards front of car, or point towards passenger, i assumed it meant point to front of car. this photo was taken on the passenger side, red arrow points...

exo-cage for stormchasing - falling branch protection

Hi , I've been getting into chasing storms lately and recently was quite amazed at how much tree debris can occur in high wind storms. I'm considering an external roll cage, (exo cage), essentially to protect myself and my passengers in the event of large tree limbs falling on the car roof! anyone h...

release bearing / throwout bearing / thrust bearing clips, replaced with wire.

i replaced the two clips on the thrust bearing with wire that wraps around each side into the holes of that fork it attaches to. I am now assuming there has to be some forwards/backwards movement of the bearing that the original clips allowed. checking my previous car , (that officially died last ni...

hilarious price differences for clutch kits

clutch kit for L series, Every place I rang they had none in stock and may take up to three days to get one. I rang Exedy, who makes the clutch, and asked if I could buy directly, they said no, but I could ring a couple of more specialized places and they could get me one later today. its definitely...

stuck clutch? minimal movement in any gear

just bought an L series 88' dual range from wreckers and everything seems perfect except minimal movement once in gear. maybe its as simple as an extremely worn clutch plate. throwout bearing seized perhaps? there is no noise once in gear and the car does move in gear very slowly, like a metre a min...

no power to coil, immobiliser prime suspect

Just bought an 88' L series from wreckers for $700. Looks to be in great condition. Just put new battery in, All electrics are working. tested power going to starter motor, none going to Coil though. My current guess is some kind of issue with immobiliser. its this model, sticker on it says installe...

cool yep, i really want to reinforce the whole area once i get my hands on a welder and practice using it. Ideally i'll reinforce both sides of the car when i get the chance. for now, no off-roading for me till it's attended to. im so stoked its all relatively secure again, just wish i had done it s...

just an update, I have cut away a small section of the floor and have put in a piece of 6mm flat bar with a threaded hole for the new bolt with a nut at the end, no welding necessary. everything seems secure and good. The middle one will need spot welding at minimum. For now i'll feel ok about drivi...

oh wikid, i didn't know that could be done. I just reasoned since the car is currently not roadworthy, I'd do it my way, cause even though it's not legal;, it would be safe for my passengers, other road users and myself.

definitely shall look into your suggestion, cheers.

I've decided to buy another white car, unregistered and roadworthy. I'll put on my current registration sticker, and change any VIN number over. that way I can repair the damaged one in my own time over months if need be, and use it for spare parts while using the new one.
