Local dealer rang today. Japanese techs visiting next week and they are taking our car for five days for diagnostics. Also taking another diesel from the same dealership. They are certainly taking it seriously.

Clearly there is a problem with the glow plugs. They fall apart, causing the vdc and check engine lights to show. They'll need to replace glow plugs and a fuse. You're at least the third I've heRd of with this issue (myself included) .

Interesting. That's exactly the problem I had with the lights and the two stuffed glowplugs and fuse. Fortunately, I only had to wait overnight for the parts. Not good that glowplugs are falling apart after 20,000kms.

He's had it in for the shudder and told me that Subaru are fitting a redesigned EGR valve to his car soon that they hope will solve the problem. I picked the Foz up on Friday after it spent the night the dealership. Engine light stayed off. Sat morning, guess what...the engine and stability control lights are on again! What a f***n lemon. Oh well back to the dealership again.

Forester back after an overnighter at the dealer. Engine light caused by glow plugs. Apparently two of the four glow plugs were falling apart. Wtf? Anyway, all four glowplugs hhave been replaced.

Oh the irony! We were tossing up between the Xtrail diesel and Forester diesel. The Xtrail was a better drive, bigger and better suited to our needs. But, we went with the Forester purely because of concerns about the Xtrail diesel's reliability. We felt that the Subaru would be trouble free. WRONG....
