Thanks for the advice so far guys. Yes the parts issue is a big one. I have friends who work at Bursons and a couple of other auto parts places so it's unlikely I would ever go near a genuine dealer. In the past I had a Nissan R31 Silohouette (I miss it!) and remeber laughing my way out of a Nissan ...

At the moment I am leaning towards getting a Suzuki I have seen some with the Vitara 1.6 engine transplant for sale and these look awesome. The Daihatsu does still look pretty good though......... One big plus I'm seeing for the Sierra is the amount of bits that seem to be available. Both are in the...

Cargo Basket Recommendations?

Hi, I was wondering what brands and type (aluminum/steel) of cargo baskets people are using on their wagons. I want to put one on my L series wagon to mainly carry a spare tyre, jerry can and tool box. I've never driven with one on and some people have told me they make a horrible noise - I have exp...

Hi, I got a 99 GT Forester for my wife about 6 months ago. It's been great so far and she gets about 9-10L to 100k like most of the other posts are saying. It's super comfortable. The only thing I don't like is the cruise control is kind of jerky. The good safety rating was also a factor when I boug...

I'd be grinning if i found a set for $60! Best I have found is $47 a rim from Wheels in Ballarat. They have been blasted and coated though. I want a set bad but it's for a second car so not important. The second car was meant to be for parts but it's better than the one I'm driving!

13inch Sunnies

Just wondering on what the going rate for a set of 13 inch sunnies is? I just got another L series and it only has steel rims. I have 14inch after market rims (King I think) on my daily driver but they do suck a bit down low with the gearing, so wanted to put 13's on the second wagon. Another questi...

For anyone who may need this in the future.

From what I have found out standard L series wagon struts should be 775mm centre to centre.

Tailgate Gas Struts - L series

Hello, Awhile ago I had dramas finding someone to fit gas struts locally to the back of my L series wagon. I ended up using a local distributor for 'Struts Australia'. They mounted the brackets on th bottom up the wrong way and the brackets have now flexed quite a bit after a couple of months. I too...

Got my struts sorted. Went around several auto joints today asking if anyone knew where i should go. Found a place called Trembarths automotive in Delacombe that have heaps of those generic ones. They fitted them up for me $45 each.

Thanks,

Ben

Am going camping this weekend and don't want a hit on the head! Might go the pvc pipe or piece of 2X1 as a quick fix for the trip - cl...

Tailgate Gas Lift Struts - Sportswagon

Hello, Just wondering if anyone had found an online source for gas lifts for a wagon tailgate? I need some for a 94 sportswagon. There was a guy selling various ones on ebay a few weeks ago for around $80 a pair and now all his listings are gone! I have been quoted $65 each in one local parts place ...

Got to the wreckers and got it done. Tried prying a rough looking one off. It works but clips perished and also it deformed the hole in the panel slightly (very slightly). El Freddo/Littlewhiteute you were on the money. Just squeezed the clips form the back and they popped right off clips in tact! I...

Removing L series side mouldings?

Hello, I'm new here having just picked up a 93 L series sports wagon. I'm missing some of the side mouldings and have found some at a wreckers on a car, but....... how the hell do you get them off? (without wrecking them of course). I have looked at 5 cars at wreckers and can only find the one set s...
