90000km to date and no DPF issues except the shuddering early in life. I drive 850km/week and Falco80 is right that these things live on the highway. In my outback 6th gear is for decoration most of the time. It used to get under my skin, but I just dont care anymore. Fuel economy at 2500rpm is bett...

Had my MAP sensor cleaned at 50000km. It looked like a brick when it was removed with all of the caked on carbon matter. Car ran a whole lot better after that. Its coming on 12 months with no door rattling shudders. Ahum, make sure you avoid supermarket chain related Diesel, its basically rubbish. I...

Althought the 4sp Auto may seem like something out of the middle ages, I owned a Foz 4 years ago with the same transmission and it was well matched to the car/engine. Truley not as bad as you might think.

I know the Diesel Outbacks coming in this year are going to sport a new engine/gearbox. Apparently the turbo spools up at about 1600rpm delivering torque earlier and the gearbox has a revised set of ratios to name a few changes.

I can only assume the Foresters will have the same adjustments.

Owned a few of the models shown & was taught to drive in a 2WD L series. I think I almost got emotional when I watched it.

Great ad.

Well I finally got a fully fledged shudder again last night. That basically equates to 7-8 months without a shudder until last night. The car has been threatening a shudder since saturday when I got what I think is rubbish fuel from a supermarket chain. I suspect once I finish this tank, it will tak...

Geoffoz,

I am yet to experience the DPF light. My last service (25000) was in August. I am up for 37500 in a couple of weeks time.

Been shudder free since May until 2 days ago...sort of. On Saturday I filled up with what I would regard as poor diesel supplied by a supermarket chain. Since then I am sure I have done at least one or more regens and I can feel the shudder trying to start but unable to take hold. I am able to accel...

I have had a 2010 Diesel OB for 9 months now and on the whole I love it. I guess I would be looking for one of the following: 1. What ECU PAK version is installed. It makes a difference to performance. The most recent PAK is probably what you want. 2. Will you always do long trips or will it be for ...

I have been running the new PAK for 9 weeks on the Outback with no real shudder (I was an early tester). On the odd occasion it feels like it wants to start shuddering but cant seem to take hold. Can easily accelerate out of it. My clutch is a pig when cold. Reversing out of my driveway on a cold mo...

My shudder has all but disappeared since the cold weather began. I have heard that a shudder affected engine was sent back to Japan for Engineers to tear down and investigate which suggests to me that a solution or at least an understanding of the problem shouldn't be too far away. From my engineeri...
