EA81 Flywheel
Hi guys As the title suggests, I'm looking for an EA81 Flywheel to have ready for a clutch swap in the (hopefully not too distant) future. It's for a 1987 Brumby, standard, DR 4WD, EA81. I'm based in SA so would prefer local to avoid postage costs. Presumably this would cost a fair bit in the mail? ...

Hi Guys I'm hoping to start gathering parts for this now. So far the list is: Clutch kit (not sure exactly what is included with this) Release bearing Spigot bearing Rear main seal. I'm also wondering if I should try and source a second hand flywheel to swap with mine (just incase it needs skimming)...

Is it really that much easier to remove the engine? I guess it would avoid raising the car, removing driveshafts, tailshaft etc... No power steering or aircon either (much as I hate it in the heat, I'm always happy when there's maintenance to be done:)). Thanks for the offer of the crane, I may be t...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Is there a clutch aligning tool available for the EA81?, I seem to recall that 'universal' ones aren't necessarily suited to these cars. Transmission out might be the way to go I think, but if I decide to go the engine route I might borrow your crane, Silverbullet. I...

Brumby clutch
Hi Everyone Sorry my contributions to the forum have been minimal of late. Unfortunately, I will most likely be trying to sell my Brumby this year. Before I do, there are a couple of things I'd like to sort out. The car is a standard 1987 Brumby, EA81, DR 4WD manual. I think it's original running ge...

I normally have a reasonable commute from the south to the airport (largely due to the hours I work) but it only takes one issue for the whole thing to fail. Today, the boom gates on the rail crossing in Brighton failed and I was consequently late for work after spending most of the journey in first...

I'm originally from the UK and I can remember the Brumby and other Subaru models but I can't recall seeing a lot of them around. I remember I guy on my street had one when I was fairly young but I have no idea what it was. At the time they were a pretty unusual car. When I moved to Australia I saw m...

Sorry, I know this is an old thread but I just thought I'd update it incase anyone reads it: I changed the oil last month and the knock has gone. I thought I heard it once but might have just imagined it. I usually change oil every 6 months but left it a year this time (busy, blah blah, excuses... :...

Oh dear, that's not a pretty sight. Particularly for me as I have sealed bearings in the front of my Brumby. Must have lasted a couple of years so far but still a worry. After I fitted them I remember reading somewhere on here about packing sealed bearings oneself and that has always been in the bac...

Brake specialist in SA
Hi guys
I think my brake master cylinder might be due for a rebuild.
Does anyone know anywhere trustworthy and reliable in SA that would be able to do it? I'm based in the South but I don't mind travelling for good service (within reason).
Thanks
David D

EA81 slight knock on cold start
Hi everyone I am gathering issues at an alarming rate at the moment! My '87 Brumby has started briefly knocking on start up. Only lasts 1-2 seconds and isn't particularly harsh but still worries me none the less. Only happens if the car has stood overnight or equivalent and does not affect performan...
