The guy is saying that the engine number doesn't match the vin. There's no way its had an engine swap so I'm a little confused.

Hi there, I'm trying to get a blue slip for a 2007 WRX tuned by sti. The guys are saying that the engine numbers match that of the 2005 liberty GT? This is a major problem as they wont allow us to register it as a WRX. No engine swap has been done so its very bizarre! Can anyone think of any reasons...
