Thanks Jeff and El Fredo, Jeff, I'm intrigued by the idea of the h-block. How will that solve the issue if there is a mystery leak or blown gasket? El Fredo, I agree how well built this thing is. There was almost no wear evident on the cylinders or cams, and very minimal wear on the timing chain gui...

H6 EZ30 Head Gasket / Cooling Burping

Hi forum members... So after 349,000 kms my H6 seemed to need head gaskets. From what I've read on various forums, this is usually common earlier that that. Anyway, after some research I decided to brave the task, pulled the engine and replaced the gaskets. I must say I'm so impressed with how littl...

Hey DanTheMan and anybody else that this might help, While grabbing some other parts for the car from Cardiff Automotive, our local Subaru dismantler, they gave me the tip that this type of thing can happen if the radiator isn't bled properly. I thought it was enough to run the engine and top up the...

This forum is so good!

Some nice person posted a manual here showthread.php?t=7011

From that I found the pinouts for the TCU to test the resistance of the Soleniod "c" and at section 3.2-part 2 page 121 there is even details for a transfer clutch pressure test !

I like this thread! I am trying to sort out why my AWD isn't working (see this thread http://ausubaru.com.au/showthread.php?t=18137 ) I think my multimeter will test duty cycle. So I would like to give it a go. Suparoo, I would love to know where you connected the meter? Would I be right in guessing...

Thanks for all the responses. I have tried fuse in/out to try to cycle the solenoid but no improvement. CV's, driveshaft and rear diff seem OK, so it's all pointing to the clutch or control system since posting I found this interesting article: http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/99-do-yourself-illu...

Liberty Automatic AWD not working - No power to rear wheels!

This was originally being discussed in this thread. http://www.ausubaru.com.au/showthread.php?t=14583 I thought I would start a new thread as the other one predominantly was discussing manual gearboxes and viscous couplings. My 95 2.2 automatic liberty is not sending any power to the rear wheels. I ...

Liberty Automatic AWD not working

OK, I have just had this confirmed by a Subaru dismantler / mechanic. It definitely has no traction to the rear, something he has never seen happen to one of these. He suspects that it is an internal problem with the gearbox and that the most economical fix is replace with a 2nd hand automatic gearb...

Thanks Suparoo In the same conditions I could have put my foot flat to the floor in my 2000 outback auto or '90 Liberty Manual and have no observable wheelspin. When I put this car to the same test it kept freely spinning wheels for about 10 seconds at which point I realised that there was definitel...

Drives just like a front wheel drive ;)

Unfortunately I am an AWD addict and would get very annoyed and frustrated whenever I put my foot down and got wheelspin.

Couldn't help myself, I went out in the dark to take a look. The only fuse I could find is the one that you insert to make the car front wheel drive. Also found this great article on replacing the centre diff in a forester manual http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f89/center-diffs-how-replace-t...

Thanks for that tip. I will check that. I checked that there was no fuse in the holder that switches to FWD, but didn't think of one in the fuse board. There is definitely something wrong. The same conditions in my 90 liberty manual or 2000 Outback Auto would have had no noticable wheelspin. Today t...

G'day Everyone, I have just bought a 93 Liberty Automatic Wagon. I think I may have bought a few problems :-( I have posted another question about the Centre Diff not working in another thread. G'day Everyone, I am interested to know more about this. I have just bought a 93 Liberty Automatic. I test drove in the dry on sealed roads everything seemed OK. I took delivery of it today in the rain. Noticed at the first corner that the rear wheels aren't doing anything! I am wondering what else ...
