The leak on the head is oil (rather than coolant).

Hi all, thanks for the replies. Got the local dealer (Capital Subaru in Canberra) to take a look and as suspected it is a small leak. Have to say I was impressed with their service department; rather than insisting that I get it repaired then-and-there, their response was 'keep an eye it, it will ne...

06 Outback - Headgasket Leak...
Hi all, my still-new-to-me (owned for about 7 months) 06 Outback has developed an apparent headgasket leak. :( Spoke to the dealer to get it looked at, so not confirmed yet. The car has done about 160k, dealer serviced it's whole life and hasn't been overheated as far as I know. The leak (really a f...

Recommended Tire Pressures?
Hi all, quick question on tire pressures; what's recommended for an 06 Outback? The local dealer seems to think that 45 PSI (!) is good, but the card by the driver's door says 29 front, 30-31 rear. I dropped the pressure to 30'ish, after nearly losing my fillings on the first dirt road @ 45 PSI :) W...

Yes it sounds like the wire has come off the locking mechanism or faulty unit. The interior panel inside the tailgate is easily removed.. it's held on by plastic clips.. just put your fingers (or some sort of lever) and pull the trim away from the gate. I'd grab yourself a test light and check for ...

Happy New Year! I should have been clearer in my post; the tailgate latches and stays closed fine. It's just that it doesn't lock; there's no 'click' from the tailgate when I hit the lock button on the remote. Is it easy to get to the lock mechanism, and if so, is there a way to manually lock it? Th...

Outback tailgate not locking
Hi all,
hope someone can offer some advice. I have a 06 Outback and the tailgate has stopped locking. Any ideas on how to diagnose this, or manually lock it until I can get to a dealer?
Thanks in advance!

Thoughts on high mileage Outback?
Hi all, first-time poster here, but looks like a great forum. I was hoping to get your collective thoughts on a 2.5l 2006 Outback that I'm thinking of buying. The car drives well, and seems to be in good condition for the price (around AUD $20k), has a full service history too. But, it also has 1410...
