If anyone wants an EJ18 with slightly scored bores and two warped heads minus a few parts. Sing out and I'll gladly sling it your way

Most people throw them away, a mate of mine sold one with 70k on it for $90 with wiring & computer, you really need to to join something like RSLC or some Impreza forums, possibly REXNET and put a wanted add up, heaps of people have done conversions and have the old motors laying in their sheds, yo...

TOONGA wrote:when you add another 1300 dollars to the 1100 dollar price tag you can buy a recon short block.

$550 is a way better price but if you hunt around a bit more you could do even better

No worries

Any hints on places to look?

EJ18!? Cheers AP Na I originally thought the mess in under the dash was something to do with an immobiliser ;) Think I may just stick with an EJ18 save stuffing around The same wreckers just happened to have an EJ18 out of a 94 Impreza, done 120,000. Same deal $1100 From what people are saying that...

Well the conclusion Pretty sure now that you fellas are on the money .the engine looks factory .a lot of the stickers are in japanese .the numbers stamped on the chassis don't match the compliance plates .the sticker up under the bonnet (written in japanese) states EJ18 .the compliance plates look t...

Well just saw the sticker under the bonnet it says EJ18 And seeing as none of the numbers on the compliance plate match those on the firewall seems a bit wierd? Looks like I'll can the EJ22 and start looking for an EJ18 :p ( just like the one that was posted up before, at the auction sale that ended...

Oh.. and forgot to mention, the wiring under the dash looks like it's just from someone fitting an alarm/immobilizer with central locking attachment.
That was what I originally thought

Any chance you could PM me a contact number and I'll give you a ring tomorrow?

Don't say that :( A radiator by itself was going to be $250

I'm used to Landrovers, to do the engine up in my car is just shy of $5000

Has 180,000 and 6 months warranty

The car originally had an EJ22 I'm hoping I can swap back to an EJ22 maybe

It appears that the car originally came with an EJ22 Can you grab the entire VIN number and whatever is written on the ECU? If it is a genuine import Legacy, the VIN will start with BF or BJ If it is an Aus delivered vehicle with Legacy badges, the VIN will start with either JF1 or JF2 Vin:JF2FBFBA...

Not to sure how to post photos on this forum Can you send me your email address in a PM and I'll send them that way? Legacy's probably came out in Japan with a 1.8 povo pack like the 1.3 Impreza's, might be best to pick up a 1.8 Impreza motor and just bolt the ancillaries onto it. Something like thi...

Well just to throw a spanner in the works

I just checked the engine, stamped under the alternator is EJ18

And on the compliance plate is EJ22ENA1BD

So.... hopefully an EJ22 will slot back in as the third engine in this car ;)
