I have been told in the past that you can pack oil pumps with Vaseline when new to help with priming. I recently put together a Rover V8 (for one of my other cars, not my Subaru!) and was having trouble getting oil pressure initially. I tried using Vaseline and found that this cured the problem.

I have exactly this problem with my Brumby. I've replaced all the o-rings and gasket in the oil pump and it is still leaking, apparently from the join with the replacement gasket. I'm wondering if the pump housing is be warped? Does anyone have anything further on this? Matt: did you find a solution...
