Hi, Can't be there but my family have happy memories of fun times there. 1968 I was an Army Aviation Regiment engine fitter serving at Amberley living at 25 Crosshill st Leichhardt; and our children learned to swim there. From memory where we swam was the fresh/ saltwater boundary. A dog was taken b...

Mystery Pipe?
Hi; Can someone identify the function of the yellow capped pipe on my 1/89 L wagon? (see pics). You may remember that this is the electric subelec. I have re-fitted the EA82 as my affordable battery pack was not powerful enough for electric only; so the electric motor is bolted to the diff again and ...

Oil leak.
It appears that the brumby tailshaft is different to the L series. Mine has a two piece shaft with a retained spigot and flange on the gearbox, so the rear shaft can be removed and still driven. Anyone remember the dark ages when most parts interchanged between models?

At 400% zoom it appears to be LHD. small wheels make it look odd; but the wheelbase appears the same with an extended body work. Only question is : Why bother?

Suspension lift.
Some recent posts have discussed adjustable suspension. I can remember the road test when this car was released which said that it was adjustable very quickly with a spanner. Is this on the 89 L series wagon or only on MY or Brumbies? With 290kg's of batteries behind the rear seat of the Subelec L s...

RWD versus FWD versus AWD
Ok, I c da lite.constant 4wd on hard surface not recommended, something will break. Is currently without rear driveshaft except for stub shaft in rear of gbox. No seeable advantage to linking elec to gbox. other than using 4wd. Clutch disconnect required for normal road use if they are linked. I had...

If the Brumby is anything like an L series, I found that I could only see the catch hidden behind that box/plate when my head was directly below the driver's side indicator. All I had at hand when mine snapped was a builders pencil! No tools at hand to remove the grille. Just happened to snap the @...

the problem is that there is no centre diff. It should work the same as it did with just a straight tailshaft, ie. don't engage 4wd on hard surfaces. I guess that with the box in fwd you could still add some extra drive from the electric motor to the rear wheels. Also, if you had the box in neutral...

Hazy?
:confused:If the pics come thru you will see the elec motor bolted to diff. If a shortened tailshaft is fitted to the front of the elec and to the rear of the gearbox this is the same as the original drive. So how fast and how long in 4wd high? This gives 4wd with elec boost like the Camry hybrid; or...

rear wheel drive:
If the transfer case is in hirange 4wd and the elec motor is connected in series to both gbox and diff, (3.7:1) ; then we have a true hybrid with the elec as a power boost. What is the safest road speed and for how long without damage to the tranny?:(

rear wheel drive?
Firstly; apologies to Alex of Kellyville Ridge; the head teller said no to my intended purchase. My query is: If the main gearbox is in neutral, will high & low range still provide drive to the rear diff only? You may remember that I fitted an electric motor direct drive to the diff but it was too h...

Thanks guys; You are all correct. Rather than pay $130 for a new one I went to Budgewoi Spares (kurri branch) where they said they had one but still in car but if I was prepared to take the risk I could pull the motor out and see what it was like. They were quite surprised when I said ok; and 90minu...
