Front shock brand advice please

Ladies and Gents.
The outback needs new front shocks. I did 5000km last month and it was obvious...

Who makes the factory subaru stuff? Is it worth it?

What aftermarket brands are people using? I don't mind paying a few more dollars for good stuff.

I have both a Forester and Outback, both mid 2000s, both with 200,000km. Both are good cars but I always choose the Outback if I have the choice. It is more comfortable, faster and has a much bigger load space. It is also much quieter in terms of NVH which is very important to me on long trips. I wo...

Do you have a budget or buying new?
By touring do you mean long uninterrupted drives on bitumen, a bit of graded dirt, or the need for sand and mud work?
Do you have kids that will join you?

Really, no takers? There are known issues with the H6 accessory belt bearings and a failure on the road is more than likely going to shred your belt. Here is an essentially free belt that you can leave in the spare wheel well!

Search "WWP-99" regarding the head gasket problems. The first post of this thread has a lot of useful links but much anecdotal stuff also. This seemed to be a bit of an issue for subaru that wasn't solved early or definitively. There is no clarity regarding which models were affected or not, as all ...

Accessory belt suits 6 cylinder

Goodyear Gatorback 6PK1650. Bought as a spare but was sold the wrong part- meant for an earlier H6 model but didn't find this out until I needed it. Luckily I was a 1 minute walk from another auto store and not crossing the Hay plain (which I do half a dozen times a year). Brand new- unused, still s...

Regardless of the time you spend on the L series it will still end up being a 30 odd year old car. Granted you will have a modern engine and it will be a performer off road, but planning on using an L series auto would drag a lot of the conversion effort down into a sluggish 3 speed built with the l...

Hi mate.
Begging your pardon, yes an auto.
My understanding is that all of the H6 in this series were (from the factory...) 5 speed automatics.

FS: 2004 Gen4 Outback 3.0R, Orange NSW

At this stage I am just putting the feelers out if there is a forum member who is interested in purchasing my outback. A country relocation for an intense job mean I think I need to sell one of the cars. We also have a SG forester luxury so in theory could sell that instead but my partner is unsure ...

Nice subtle carpark defender bar for a late model outback. Starting at a cheap price too. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Subaru-Outback-2009-Nudge-Bar/281505984401?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140106155344%26meid%3D0315022a92f84fa682c4f21db1f6...

I wouldn't worry. The computers on these things will sort out anything for a bad batch of fuel and will let you know loud and clear if there is an issue. I would have to disagree with Sven, I would use what is in the tank first- assuming no issues- before refilling. This way you don't have a high pr...

Being the H6, what comes up for servicing at 200,000km? It is a timing chain engine, and a manual gearbox too.

So according to the US forums, this is a common problem with the 2003-2007 Foresters internationally. There is a technical service bulletin from Subaru 15-134-08R that details the problem and the requisite fix, and the link is above in the previous post. You need part number 65409SA030 (repair kit s...
