Wheel/tyre advice

Looking for a little help here, new car and all... I need some new tyres before a pink slip inspection. It is really just one that is not satisfactory but all are worn to within 2mm of the guides (michelin primacy). The spare is an original Yoko G900 otherwise I would just swap it on for the inspect...

Thanks Gannon. Yeah, I read that the other day. I wish I had a hard copy of the FSM as it makes great light toilet reading! I have done plenty of research on the American sites in particular about transmission fluid. The owners manual recommends Genuine ATF-HP, Idemitsu HP, or Castrol Transmax J. Th...

Back in a Subaru. It's been a few years now.

Hi everyone. After some deliberation and a fair few banged up old cars I finally settled on a 2004 Outback. It is the 3L model but not the premium so gets the leather but no sunroof. Delivered options include mudflaps, boot mat, rubber floor mats, roof racks, tint, headlight covers, towbar/trans-coo...

Bennie the L series is a great car, though if I were to buy an older Subaru I might have looked at a few utes.

I actually bought a car today so at least I am...
BACK IN A SUBARU!

Stay tuned. I will post photos once I have washed and waxed it.

Bennie, if I wanted a real car I would buy back my L series turbo!

Forester was a POS. Rattled and squeaked, bearings in wheels and underbonnet tired and noisy, stank of cigarettes and peeling paint.

Driving out to see the outback tomorrow, stay tuned.

I'm glad the car went to a loving home. I'm checking out that H6 outback tomorrow, but a one owner 2000 forester with the same number of km (around 150-170K) just popped up locally and would likely be half the price. I'm tempted to go the bigger and more powerful car, but at the same time a more fru...

Hi mate. Where did my old L series get to? Did you end up selling it before leaving for overseas? I haven't decided anything yet, but looking at wagons and I've never had a 6 cylinder and the H6 seems to have most of the bugs ironed out by the mid 2000s. Still need to keep an eye on accessory belt b...

Will probably test drive a 2004 3.0R-B liberty this week if I can get the time.

One owner and dealer serviced since new, with books.

How many k's is too many...?

Hi Chris.
When you get tired of that let me know!

Any more feedback on what to look out for? Anyone got the service schedule for the H6 in MY04 and later?

Hi mate. Looking at MY04 series outbacks were they available in manual in Australia? Is the 5 speed auto in that series any good? Members on this forum here talk of burning through 2L of oil/5000km in the H6: http://performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?67261410-Subaru-3-0-H6-motor-high-oil-us...

Hey mate! Yeah it has been a while. I had a lovely Peugeot turbo diesel for a while and on sold that to fund an overseas holiday. After that one I spent some time on w123 mercedes, owning a diesel sedan and now a wagon. Fantastic cars but I am now ready for something with a few more hp and all wheel...

I'm in Orange now (sorry, just updated profile) but regularly travel to Sydney.

I borrowed a 2001 forester and it was great but gutless with 3 people and a weekends worth of gear.

Is the later H6 (MY04) EZ30 less prone to the oil loss induced failure than the earlier cars?

I've been away from Subaru too long, help me choose a new car.

Hi folks. I've been away from ausubaru and Subaru for a while now. Last time I posted on these boards I was driving an L touring wagon with an EA82 turbo with all the fruit, bought here and subsequently sold to a board member here in sweet condition. I've been tooling around with Euro cars for a whi...

Dude I don't think you put up enough photos of the plates on. Maybe get a model to lie provocatively on the bonnet and then you would probably sell it even quicker...
