Hi Pali sounds like you have made your decision. Dont get me wrong the Forester is obviously a great car but it comes down to individual needs and wants. I would have liked a new car with a new car warranty and prefer teh Outback but the new model was far too expensive (I know it starts at 41 but to...

I've just had a similar decision to make. Mybudget was 30 - 35/40 at a push and was upgrading from 2002 Outback H6. I considered other brands both new and used. Cars with offroad ability and those without. I couldn't get passed the Subaru's for quality and resale value. So looked at a new Forester (...

I reckon everyone has said their piece. My contribution, fwiw, is based on personal experience. Take it or leave it. If you think it's worthwhile, get it. Your call. Dane. Fair comment GOD, thanks. It does have to be serviced at the dealer but any work required for consumables etc can be done anywh...

No reply speaks volumes...maybe nobody has really had any bad experiences or of course maybe nobody has seen the thread! With respect to those that did comment I'm wondering if peoples negative comments are based on hearsay and not on actual facts! Ive done a lot of research on this and there are lo...

I requested a copy of both the free standard warranty and the additional paid for warranty...maybe I'm being naive but it seems like a pretty comprehensive list of things covered so what is the issue with these kind of warranties? Do they not honour them or just wriggle out of paying up when the tim...

Had a friend that used to own and run his own car yard (A wholesaler for canberra) and even he used to say their a con! but I thought a car of that value would have it thrown in for free! It comes with a 5 year unlimited warranty that basically covers about 30% of the car....I'm guessing its basica...

Well I guess you don't rate them D Generate? I've heard similar reactions and seen a few stories online, but would like to hear some other thoughts. It includes NRMA roadside recovery which costs us $140 a year, which amounts to $700. So in effect it would be costing us $300 as we'd be paying for th...

Warranty!

I'm being offered a 5 year warranty that is underwritten by Harrier National for $1000. Any thoughts on the value of this, are they all as dodgy as people say or worth it for some piece of mind?

Thanks for that...been checking that site for the last few weeks but nothing comes up that I'm looking for.... Anyway, put deposit down today on the 07 Outback 3.0 R and subject to a final NRMA check will pick it up next week! Feeling a bit relieved that I've finally made a decision and quite glad I...

Close to deciding on a 2007 Outback 3.0 R but would like some of your views on storage space and audio features! As it doesn't have bluetooth or an aux in I will have to have those fitted. Is there an after market bluetooth option that is functional, small and easy to fit? Also can I have an aux in ...

Its now more about what to upgrade to rather than if I should! After much research and consideration I'm down to two second hand options. Decided that saving ten grand was worth it and a 2 or 3 year old $30,000 car will more than suit our needs.... Soooo....its either an Outback 3.0R or a Mitsubishi...

If I didnt need a reliable car I'd agree with you about keeping it but the car is 75% business use and I cant take the chance of running a business with a car that's one of the main tools being 8 years old and potentially unreliable. I know thats the same with newer cars but less so! I'm now looking...

Ok! Andrew when I referred to 'stuff' I suppose I meant reputation and wasnt being specific, my mistake and point taken! Alex - Valid point but frankly I'm not into driving around race tracks clocking speeds, but I understand your point. However the performance aspect at that level is not a deciding...

OK so after a number of test drives and lots of research I've now dismissed everything apart from a Volvo xc70 and of course the Outback (06/07 3.0R with Si drive)! It seems that these two are very similar cars but the Subaru has better fuel consumption and handling, the Volvo has slightly more room...

Test drove an 07' H6 with Si drive today and an 05' 2.5 to make a comparison as I'd never driven the 4 cyl. Big difference between the two and given a choice between mine and the 2.5 I'd keep mine 100 times over! The H6 was obviously quick and felt nice but frankly I'm not sure if I'm getting that m...

I have upgraded the stereo in mine (2000 outback h6), I used a clarion head unit with a aux in and a usb port, and the origional stacker plugs straight in the back. Just make sure you get a clarion that has stacker control and it should work. I used a single din unit and put an extra pocket under, ...

if you want to upgrade dont trade in, sell privately Its worth ALOT more than 5k. I would be offended if i got offered that. you will love a newer model outback, theyre great cars, but so is your current car. I was a bit insulted to be honest and if I do upgrade will be selling privately. I'm getti...

Confused about upgrade

New member and first post...so not sure if this is the right spot! I've had a 2002 Outback H6 for about 3 years and although I had a few problems early on as it had done 200,000, so the inevitable need for replacing things, I've loved it and it drives great. Its now at the stage where I spend more c...
