EJ22 FWD Gearbox
I have looked round quite a bit but cannot find a 5 speed manual gearbox in reasonable condition for my 1992 GX Liberty. Anyone got one or know anybody who has one they don't want?

I know that there are different types of seats for the wheel nuts, I don't have the Forester wheels yet and so don't know if they are tapered seat or flat. I had a falcon and the alloy wheels on it had tapered seats. I was thinking before that that all alloy wheels had flat seats. Now I learn that t...

Suby wheel interchangability
Is there a thread that tells me which Suby wheels can be interchanged with other Suby models. I cannot find any info. I would like to know if 2001 Forrester wheels will fit on my 1992 GX Liberty FWD wagon without any dramas

1992 Liberty fwd gearbox
Need a bit of advice. My 1992 EJ22 Liberty fwd gearbox is making growling noises. Not clutch thrust bearing as the noise stops when the clutch pedal is pushed down. I am guessing input shaft bearing. I want to know how to change the bearing. I am told that I have to split the gearbox. Can somebody r...

Alex, thanks for that. thanks to all for all the helpful info. I would rather pull the subaru gearbox apart than the EF auto I just got rid of. Does the g/b case have locating studs? for putting it back together? Tho I may not need to. Am going to Bursons tomorrow to try the shockproof redline gear ...

OK, no more smiles and thanks for the information. Broken detent spring sounds right, I will look for a diagram of the box to positivly locate it. Can't be more than a few $s from Subaru. Probably involve a small ball bearing as well. As for the crunchy gear changes, slow is the go. Thanks again. Ju...

why do people look at me with silly grins on their faces when I tell them my 1992 GX Liberty 5 speed FWD is crunching gears and doesn't like staying in reverse? If I put it in reverse and let go the gear lever it just steps back out. If I hold it in with almost no pressure, it stays in. The gear cha...

Subbie economy
I'm new to subbies, don't know if a 1992 GX Legacy is of any interest but the one I bought from Canberra a week or so ago is getting 7.62l per 100k city and mainly highway. Is that good bad or indifferent? By the way, does anyone have decent a FWD 5speed manual gearbox for a 1992 GX Liberty they wan...

Subaru clutch cable
I was looking at a thread about somebody wanting a subaru clutch cable but have lost it. Search gives me 50 posts to look, all of them irrelevant. I have not posted enough to get ads on. I have bought a Subaru clutch cable, no longer needed, which apparently suits a number of different model Subarus...

I stepped out of an EF Falcon into my 1992 GX Liberty front wheel drive and the road noise of the Liberty is triple that of the Falcon, on second thought, so much louder that it can't be compared. I thought I had some mechanical problems until I got onto an all weather road (smooth). All the noise w...

chev badges
Nah, you don't put chev badges on a V6 Commodore, put the Buick badges on them using the same logic as the chev badges on the 5.7 and the 6 litre Commos:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

just looking at my ej22 motor, looks like it will fit in the back of my GX Liberty wagon. You would have to be doing something fairly violent to make it move around. Suggest putting some tough protection on the cargo floor and behind your back seat and I am thinking the gearbox will fit sideways as ...

don't know if this is the place to post this. Mods redirect if needed.
