Try Sikaflex. My mate fits widscreens and thats what he uses. Works better than silicone as it always stays flexible.

Had the same deal last month. The good old heater core sh*t the tin and leaked coolant over the floor. I bypassed the heater and when I refilled the coolant it did the same as yours. When the car ran hot, it killed the thermost which stayed open. New thermostat and all good now for the past month.

Yep. Same same here. To the point my breather line was blocked that much, when I gave the car a bit of stick it would create a vacuum in the tank and starve the carby of fuel. Real nice when you've just overtaken a road train and half a minute later you can't do more than 50kmh cos theres not enough...

Just park next to a really nice expensive car. They would hopefully go for that first. However if anyone is looking to break into one, mines normally parked at Bunbury forum, is a red L and is insured - so go for your life.

Tank breather

I had a similar problem with mine. Ran OK normal day to day driving but when I gave it some stick it seamed to be starving for fuel. Tried blowing out fuel lines, reset float in carb etc. No joy. Ended up being vacuum in tank starving carb for fuel. Try taking your fuel cap off and see if it improve...

Ct14

Head down to your local auto shop and grab some Chemtech CT14 and a spray bottle. This stuff is awesome. Try not to get it on the duco though. Mix it as the pack says and head down to your nearest sparklers car wash. Squirt this tuff on where it needs cleaning and wait about 5 min and blast it off t...

Thanks for the info. I'm getting some prices for bits at the moment and the 81 does seem a bit cheaper although a bit harder to get, or I think our local car places just don't give a stuff. My son is keen to give a hand anyway which was half the idea - hopefully he will learn a bit. May as well get ...

ea81 vs ea82

Was speaking to a bloke the other day who has messed around with a few old subi's over the years and he claims the ea81 has a bit more grunt than the ea82. As it was, I was thinking of rebuilding mine or another ea82 for a spare and this bloke claims it would cost a lot more than an ea81 also. Fair ...

Where's the best place around Perth or even better - Bunbury to pick up a lift kit and about how much are they?

No drama's. I will have to look into this further. The kit the old man put on his Brumby years ago fitted onto the top of the shocks, which is why I thought tha angle of the CV 's was increased. I'll search for the thread on "body lift".
Cheers

I was under the impression the usual lift kit extended the height of the suspension, therfore increasing the angle on the CV? What is the point - other than looks - of raising just the body?

Thinking of doing the same myself. Heard rumours lifting shortens the life of the CV's. Can anyone confirm this? Must admit the idea of buying a kit is easy but I prefer to make what I can myself - and when it comes to being tight with bucks - pick me.

I was thinking of getting another motor to rebuild in my spare time. Any idea of prices on seals/gaskets or overhaul kits for either motor?? I'm assuming the 82 would be more with the timing arangement.

EA81 or EA82

I recently put another EA82 in my bus. I have heard some guys rekon the EA81 was a better motor. I was told less oil leaks, less rattles and more power. Any thoughts?? Don't want to upgrade to anything bigger - rather put something in it that will bolt straight in. I thought the EA81 was from the ol...

Mine was the same. Couldn't weld anything to it. Tried stilsons - no go. Ended up smacking it with a cold chisel and hammer in the undo direction. Two or three hits and away it went.

13 to 14 volts from your alternator is normal. See if the voltage drops when the problems occur. That will signify there is a short in your wiring somewhere. If it does, it will probably be between your battery and starter motor positive wire. If it was a shorting problem anywhere else the fuse shou...

Poor description on my behalf. Or maybe just half asleep as I'm just killing time at work myself. Probably could be wheel bearings, I was just curious of anyone had done them bearings on the fromt drive shafts (closest to the gearbox). If that was a common problem I might as well do that also? I've ...

L series fornt drive shaft lube!!

Bit of a whirring noise in the from end on acceleration, doesn't sound like CV's. Anyone lubed up the bearings on the front drive shafts before? I'm hoping I can just slip the rubber boot off from under the car and pack some grease in there without removing the shaft. Anyone got any tips/or done it ...
