My whines as well, I think its just a LR thing PCV=Positive Crankcase Ventilation. They get clogged up & from what I understand this can cause crankcase pressure to push extra oil fumes into the manifold...not sure exactly how it all works. Paul? Apparently it does affect fuel economy though, so I ...

Thank you all for your pointers, I'll create a bit of a list and check them all as I'm looking. ktmtragic, top stay bar? Is that the bar that runs from the firewall to the gearbox or engine up top, the one that stops forward and aft movement of the engine/gearbox? I've looked at three so far, one wi...

Gen 4 Outback - what to look out for

Hi there, Haven't had a Subaru for a while, so haven't been active here. I'm about to buy a gen 4 Outback 2.5ltr, currently looking. I'd like a manual so it has D/R, don't want a modded one, just standard that has done mostly on road k's. Any common problems I should be looking out for, on a bit of ...

[VIC] Two EA82 MPFI engines free to good home

I have two EA82 MPFI engines, both were running when removed but overheating, the better one has heads off so can be inspected, the other was overheated a few times but still ran fine. I have a full gasket set, and timing belt kit including pulleys to fix one up. Great changeover for someone good wi...

I had the same problem with an MPFI L series, and it was the idle air control valve, pretty easy to diagnose though, just block it off to see if the idle steadies. I think they are closed when engine is at operating temp??

I'm not sure about the donor car, I'll need to ask, the recipient is AWD. What is the difference in the engines?

EJ22 from a manual Liberty into an Auto Liberty

Just a quick question.

I am looking at buying an EJ22 from a manual Liberty to go into an auto Liberty, they are both series one, 91/92.

What is the difference apart from the flywheel? What else will I need to swap?

Finally had a chance to spend an arvo fault finding, I checked for vacuum leaks, but couldn't find any, then I thought what's the easiest thing to swap from the old engine to the new one? The dissy, and I struck it lucky, that was the problem. Maybe someone can shed some light on what might have bee...

Thanks Roger, The airflow meter wasn't changed in the engine swap, but I might do it just in-case, I'll have a look for vacuum leaks, cause that kinda makes sense, it feels like it is intermittently getting to much air or not enough fuel, I put some injector cleaner in last night, so I'll see if tha...

Looks good but I reckon you need to drop the grey <body> colour of the forum when it's loaded in your Frameset. Can you edit the CSS properties of vBulletin?

EA82 MPFI coughing and spluttering

Just put a change over MPFI EA82 into my touring wagon, as the old one has a head gasket or crack problem and overheats. This one has one final niggle, under hard acceleration it feels like it runs out of juice, feels kinda like when the rev limiter kicks in, and at idle it runs rough and sometimes ...

It's the after-market Natrad sourced copper core brass tank one, tell me have you got an original one to look at? I haven't pulled mine out yet, and it's been a couple of years since I saw one. If you do does the one in the picture look as if it'll fit? I did an online postage calculation for up to ...

I used to own a 4WD Mazda B2600, same as Courier, it came with 16" steel rims as standard. Does this mean you could drill two holes in these rims and screw them onto an L series with close to the correct off-set? I'd love some 16" inch wheels with low profile tyres on my L, it'd go round corners rea...

Subanator, What's your postcode, I'll get a quote on sending you the $180.00 one, shouldn't be more than $20 - $25 via AusPost on the slow boat. I haven't put mine in yet, but I plan to over the next couple of days, I'd like to do that before ordering another one, considering the trouble I had with ...

Interested but ignorant, what does open decked and close decked refer to? I'm sure it's obvious.
