Depending upon year the RA also has a DCCD central diff, roof vent, alli door skins/bonnet. Gbox/diff ratio is lower at 4.111 cf 4.444 in WRX

15inch factory RX rally rims are as rare as the proverbial rocking horse sh!te - If you have some, you are one lucky bugger.

I can get a set of bran-spanker superlites for NZ$900/set if I buy at least two sets, which is about the same as a set of rally tyres.

Does anybody know if 205/65/15 tyres will fit on a standard height RX when fitted to 15inch superlights?

Assuming you have a NA lib based upon push type clutch??? AFAIK push type clutchs from the early NA Libs have a longer throw side on the fork than the hydraulic turbo and later model pull type clutches. Or at least the length ratio either side of the pivot is differant. The hydro slave cylinder will...

Code TY...3DA is from the WRX RA version designed for rally use, still 4.111 but tyre size is 205/55/15 6Jrim to cater for standard 15" rally tyres. This may be an easier size for you to work from if you can find some Pug 15's??? Much better to do the "4 corner rebuild" - better brakes, rims, tyres,...

Chris,

8/95 and prior WRX transmission code TY752VB3FA and 9/95 and after code TY752VB4AA are both 4.111 ratios and both came out with 205/50/16 tyres on a 6.5J rim.

Hope this helps - Shaun

Sorry Mate, I am a little confused :? If you are after a rally/club type car for grass events/hillclimbs etc then the last thing you would want is a lift kit and big tyres, the handling/power will go out the window and you will keep breaking things - you are better off trying to find some of the old...

$5000 for club level, OK. $5000 at state level, FORGET IT!!!!!!! Agreed - 5k is not enough to buy a worthwhile "Rally" car but will get you a entry level club car to have a lot of fun in, and this will be cheaper than building one up from scratch. Bear in mind I am basing this on the NZ club car pr...

My RX Rally car cost the previous owner $7500 to convert to EJ20G Turbo from the old EA82T. I brought it from him for $4500. To build a safe clubsport car from scratch the cheapest way to go is a "standard" car with seats/cage - eg early 90's turbo skyline/legacy Otherwise you are up for $10k plus -...

May not be the cause here but I had a very similar problem once - turned out to be that one rear tyre had a small delamination in it and was slightly out-of round, was only noticeable under braking.

I have seen it done to a rally car using RS bilstein struts, I believe the ball joint hole was just enlarged but not much meat was left (he broke it twice). Also he may have had to modift the tower top mounts a little - not sure, I am seeing him in a couple of weeks and could ask him if you like.

While I have never seen Redline used in EA boxes before It is commonly used in EJ gear (including my two cars) with very good results. Just make sure you use the Redline Shockproof Lightweight stuff (in the blue container) for your road car, the red (heavy) stuff is more designed for race cars.
