Looking for an EA82 injected motor or the injection gear off one, complete or as near as. Condition not critical but good is better than dead, if nothing comes up then a dead one will have to do. ECU as well as wiring would be an advantage but not critical. I have just bought a motorless Brumby and ...

Leone early 80's sports dash wiring loom.

As the title says, I'm after a wiring loom for a early 80's Leone with the tacho, speedo, clock and four gauge type instrument panel, maybe it was a sports pack option or something? No need for an instrument panel as such, I have two of those already but no proper wiring loom to instal it with. I bo...

I reckon you should do what I did, throw all the original stuff in the bin and use a Liberty steering coupling to get you going. The original rubber bit would last about a week with the crazy angle necessary to operate, when I did manage to get it into place it was touching together and binding badl...

Thanks for that fellas, now I know that the MY I looked at had been retrofitted with the auto gearbox and wasn't original, hence had a manual gearbox sway bar. I'll keep my eyes open for an original automatic to grab the bar off but auto's seem pretty thin on the ground here in Tassie, most early su...

Brumby air filter fitment.

Hi all, a few questions for the more knowledgeable among the AUSubaru mob. I was going to list separate questions but went with multiple instead:confused: The picture; I have a 1991 Brumby with EJ22 and Forester gearbox. I'm having problems there with that too but won't worry about that just now. 1....

I love this AUSubaru forum! My Brumby with EJ22 has been doing identical things to that previously mentioned (code 22) ever since I bought the engine, it had been doing it before that too apparently. The bloke who owned the Liberty it was in had the coil pulled off it, there were four new plugs on t...

I am in a similar position and just picked up an EJ25 DOHC motor locally from off eBay for $50, it's not 100% complete but it does have similar wiring to the EJ22, or at least an EJ22 from '95 or so. How learning or adaptable are the 3 plug ECU's fuel wise and could you just bung on the original 22 ...

Thanks Steptoe, life is full of little trials and I seem to get everyone else's share of 'em too! I still have a few other problems to track down but getting there. Spreyton Fresh apple juice eh? Sold in all east coast states as well as S.A. too, a top genuine apple juice. Coincidentally that is who...

This was bugging me so with fine weather this past weekend had a good look and fiddle with the wiring again. I found that L series ignition switch (the bit that screws on to back of the keyed barrel) is the same as a 91 Liberty except for a terminal for ignition coil wiring. Tracked the wiring down ...

In reply to twilightprotege; It really wasn't a very fair comparison so I changed the wheels over on the two cars (Brumby & RX) to make things a little more equal and tackled the hill again in low range first gear. The Brumby made it up and over reasonably easily so turned around to have a second at...

On this auto versus manual alternatives, I bought a 1986 RX with second series EJ22 and 4.44 gearing 4 speed auto (Thanks FATZ, she's a beauty) as well as lsd rear. It is fitted with chunky pattern tyres, fairly bald rear tyres and reasonably good fronts, didn't hold much hope for offroading but the...

More wheel id'ing needed

What wheels are these? I got them from a local scrapyard for the scrap value so not much lost if they don't work out, they are obviously Subaru and a '99 model but off what? I have looked and checked eBay, this forum as well as every other picture available but no go so far. There are similar wheels...

This is a photo I took yesterday to show the difference between the Impreza selector shaft and the dodgy one previously installed and straightened to show how a little tiny misalignment can throw everything out. It looks like a lot but when you see the scale from the ruler it isn't much at all. Othe...

Woo-hoo!

My suspicions were correct, it was the detent fork/ selector that had been bent and was straightened by me that was the problem area. Nothing wrong with the gears thankfully so after comparing bits and pieces have come to the conclusion that the detent arm is near critical for good shifting and feel...

This is interesting reading. I think I know where one of these gearboxes is, the bloke who owns it reckons it was only the early L's that had no low range with the selectable 4wd switch and the later ones had the lever on the floor, sounded a bit strange to me but whatever. Is this true or is it a A...

Okay, I think I've nutted it out now. The selectors look fine and are all lined up a treat, the gears all select beautifully too so has to be something with the rear part or the selector rod shaft. The shaft was bent when bought as well as the little spring loaded detent thing, not sure what it's ca...

[quote="El_Freddo"]Which shaft was straightened in a press? Painful that its stuck now as I'm thinking the only way to check it out is to split the gearbox again = once again painful... Did you have it in 5th before it got stuck? If it was the first time it hit 5th before it got stuck I'd say the se...
