High idle issue has now gone. Car seems to have learned how to idle properly all on it's own!

Ok i think i will take it to a gas specialist. I'm sure it had to run fine on gas at some point. It is a manual also. I will post on here how it all pans out!

Thanks for that. Its comforting to know the system still gets used a new install basis! by what this bloke had said it sounded like it was superceeded by a 'better' system many years ago. Is it possible that this gas system install could be causing the ECU to think that the car is running a normal i...

I have replaced the AFM and the o2 sensor but those didnt change anything. If you were me who would you take it to, a gas specialist or a normal subaru pro?

I know nothing about gas but the inlet is a 'Gas research' branded gas system. Prior to ECU reset the car did not idle on gas, it would stall. Havent tried Gas since reset because it blew the airbox open with a very loud bang last time i drove it on gas. I guess what I'm trying to do is figure out w...

Yeah i dunno its all a bit too weird for me :P Even if the things you have mentioned arent functioning properly i cant understand how an ECU reset would make the problem happen. As i said before it had a nice and low idle albeit lumpy prior to the first ECU reset i performed upon purchasing it. I al...

I just tried to clear the codes by turning the car off and plugging in the black connectors and the green connectors, then leaving it sit for a minute then running the car above 11km for 1 minute or so and then keeping it above 2000rpm. That yielded a costant '32' code. Since unplugging all the conn...

Yeah I bought a brand new Bosch 3 wire o2 sensor. Performance is identical with the new o2 sensor and the 'second hand' AFM. at a bit of a loss :S

Following the instructions of two mechanics i have now replaced both the AFM and the o2 sensor to try and fix the hesitation issue. Doing this has not changed the cars problems what so ever. I am now left with the hesitation problem and the high idle problem..

I will give that a shot, I am a bit curious as to why resetting the ecu would cause the idle control to stay open. It's quite an annoying problem. Would the ecu readout give better information to someone who a obdII cable and ecu managing software? I'm thinking about just paying someone to look into...

Since todays reset the CEL came on for a while. I just connected the black ECU leads together and it flashed error 32.. I dont think that the o2 sensor would cause high idle but would it cause acceleration hesitation?

98 Liberty high idle

Hi all, my liberty wagon was suffering a hesitation/ surge problem. I reset the ECU to see if that would fix the problem but instead the problem still exists and now the car idles all over the place! it has been sitting on around 1500rpm but runs as low as 800rpm. I unplugged the air flow meter to s...

Mmm i think your right.. I ran it on gas today and something srange happened.. I had to slow down to avoid a car and when I accelerated there was a loud pop sound kind of like a back fire, turns out that noise was the air box blowing apart! needless to say i turned it straight back to fuel and conne...
